Pathetic fallacy has been used in the form of rain


and thunder to create a shady, black opening
shot to the trailer. The used of flickering, broken
lights on the diners sign indicates to the
audience that we are in a quiet, run-down
restaurant.

10 seconds

Non-diegetic clock ticking sounds indicate to the


viewer that this character may be alone and
uninterested.

16 seconds

A long-shot of the empty, dark diner creates a


spooky mood to the setting. Quiet non-diegetic
sound of a country song further adds an eerie
presence to the overall theme of the scene. Long
shots and slow editing have been used at this
stage of the trailer to create suspense and
intrigue from audiences.

unhuman effect for the viewer as the sideways

viewer the location of the film and age group of
some/all of the characters.

Steve Neales theory of repetition in horror films
of portraying young women as sexualised and
weak/vulnerable.
