Chamrajpete
The History

Chamrajpete is one of the most historic parts of Bangalore. It is bordered by


Basavanagudi,Banashankari,Chickpet and MajesAc.
Overcrowding and poor sanitary condiAons in the old city of Bengaluru prompted
the Mysore rulers to create new extensions. Chamrajpete was the rst of such
extensions formed in 1892.
Chamrajpete is a well planned layout that derived its name from Chamarajendra
Wodeyar, who ruled from 1868 to 1894.
There are 5 main roads in Chamrajpete. It retains its historical charm with landmarks
like Tipu Sultans Summer Palace, the Kannada Sahitya Parishat that was established
in 1915 and religious structures like Kote Venkataramana Temple.
