Introduction/Warm Up
To get the girls warmed up we will have some relay races. Split the girls into 5 groups.
The girls will go from one side of the gym to the bleachers and back. There will be 3
relays. In the first relay the girls will do kick butts (this is where they will kick their
heels to their butts). The second relay the girls will waddle like a penguin. The last
relay the girls will hula-hoop their way to each side of the gym. This should get the
girls ready for the class. The girls should be cheering for their team and encouraging
everyone to try their best.
Learning Activities/Teaching Strategies
The girls are going to play a game called rock, paper, scissor entourage. In this game
the girls will play mini games of rock paper scissor. It will be the best out of 3. If you
lose then you become the cheering/entourage of the winner. Then the winner goes and
plays another player. The goal of the game is to have the most cheerers/entourage.
Make sure that they know the rules of rock paper scissors before playing the game.
The girls will play this for two rounds. There should be a clear winner at the end of
each game.

unit is about being able
to work together and
perform a task.
The second game the girls are going to play involves trying to get every girl on a milk
crate (or some sort of box that can hold 28/16 girls). The goal is to get every girl off
the ground and on this crate. They will need to figure out a way that all of them can
position themselves on the crate. If they start to get frustrated then add in another milk
crate and we will work on getting it down to one milk crate. This activity will be done
throughout the unit.
Closure/Cool Down
Make sure to outline what the purpose of that last activity its. They are to work
together and strategize with each other to figure out the problem. They will be given
about 10 minutes each class to work on this problem. They will start with 2 crates if
needed and work their way to one. They can go change at 9:16 or 10:01.
Equipment
2 milk crates
Safety Considerations
When it comes to the milk crates make sure they are not letting them
slip from underneath them. If needed put some reinforcements on the
bottom so that it will not move.
