FABRICATION OF MILLING ATTACHMENT IN LATHE

ABSTRACT;
OBJECTIVE;
The utilization and efficiency of lathe is increased by adding
more operations

other than conventional

by fabricating the

attachments. Here the various milling operations are done using end
mill cutter,woodruff key way cutter, single angle milling cutter, and
saw cutter.

Project back ground ;

Milling machine is needed for making Key way in smaller dia
shaft, surfacing at the end of the shaft . These operations can be
done in lathe by adding extra attachments .

Working Principle;
Here the cutting tool is mounted in spindle chuck and the job is
mounted in tool post . The job is feeded and gives depth of cut by
using cross slide and carriage mechanism . As shown in figure, the
various milling operations like key way cutting , surfacing , dovetail
cutting ,T slot cutting , recessing are done using end mill
cutter,woodruff key way cutter, single angle milling cutter, and saw
cutter.
