Our life has set and declared an end goal.

We obtain it through
the same processes as others, with education. We push far with the
concept of education leading us to our career goal. Once reaching that
graduation point, we conclude our business with education and began
operating based on the degree earned. However, we never stop
learning and without learning we wont grasp the concept of the reality
around us. The idea that with continuous education, either academic or
arbitrary, we will provides the senses to communicate efficiently,
emphasize with others, understanding the limits for us to realize our
social perspective.
The world around us is quite diverse, hence its not as easy to
submerge right in and began interacting with other. We need to take a
step back, and analyze the surroundings. One thing education grants
is the lessen to speak to the world. As a child we usually tended to spit
words out and hope people understand. Now its a new game. There is
a proper style to chat with elders and professionals. Im aware that we
are taught that we cant use profanity and stutter. Thats where literacy
plays in, to master respectfully interactions without any thoughts of
ignorance and credibility.
One effect on communication is based on technology. There are
multiple mediums and outlets, cuttings us off with physical verbal
interactions. With the adaptation of calling and then texting limited the
true emotions with one another. As my dad used to say, whenever

youre talking with someone, smile as you speak and in return they will
give you the same vibe. We should give undivided attention, but we
arent entirely focused when we use technology as substitute. As Foers
focuses on, technology diminishes social interactions, that causes to
feel weak and unprepared when actually speaking the same language
in the same room. There are some instances that we are required to
use social media to remain updated. Jobs and social groups make it
essential for members to use technology to handle business rather
than in hand business. Its sure convenient than travel a long extended
distance to confirm ideas.
In addition with the advancement of technology, we tend to lose
the original feeling of anxiety and satisfaction when enraging in a real
talk. Communication isnt just conveying your thoughts. Its an art, a
thrill, and terrifying. My dad wants encourage me to focus on my
communication skills as its the essences of the real world. He would
take me out to business meetings and lunches to illustrate the effect
and style to express your ideas. We all know the generic rules of eye to
eye focus and giving the speaker undivided attention. However, theres
lot more. We need to feel honest and act rational. We dont want to
hesitate or want to barge in. Communication is performed with proper
experience on a subject and understanding the applications with
proper measures of grabbing the listeners attention. We should be

able to connect with everyone under the same roof. With mastering
this skill, it opens up beliefs to become leaders.
Effective communication skills are a great indication of our social
literacy. We are capable to connect with others and speak properly in
the outside world, rather than closed in a shelter.
The society we strive is self-revolving. The world is in a constant
revolution. We need to adjust to a new trend or atmosphere. In order to
settle in is by understanding people around us. Its currently the digital
age, and the new networks are Snapchats and Instagram. Its only the
beginning to become educated in these medias. However, As Foer
explains, we need a balance between the social and digital
interactions. Understanding the new media may be simple, but fully
submerging yourself into visual screen is depriving one to socialize and
emphasize the real issues around us. The debt of the digital world is
intense and immersive, but there should be a reasonable borderline.
Empathizing with the world is essential to assist people to have a
brighter and wider view of society. One should be to provide resolutions
with political and moral issues.
Its disheartening that we arent aware of the great controversy in
the world and just let it slide under the rug. Eventually, you will trip
over the larger bump and everything will explode. The old roots of
racism is still a current issue, such as the Fuergison or the recent clock
issue. We still maintain the old mind frame and stereotypes of people

physical appearance. This social construction has corrupted our head.

In fact, academic education doesnt controls peoples thoughts, but
rather, events in history or personal experience.
Our myopic pathways and reason for continuous education isnt
for self-pride or applications, but rather for a piece of paper, stating
their concentration, such as Micro Biology. With all that college
education and social interactions, they learned what was needed for
themselves, not for the society as whole. Sure, Majoring in biology will
provide the opportunity to help others in return, but true intentions are
based on salary. We become self indulged in our world and playing the
typical card that their main goal is for the development of society.
Education isnt necessary for understanding the struggles because any
ordinary uneducated is adept to say yes, I understand your issues.
The education level doesnt have social impact of assimilating
with society, but it provided context. Its gives us a sense of what we all
shared in the past or still what we share in the present. A college
graduate may realize that his co-workers experienced the same
endless nights working their papers, and all fall under the same work
force. That resident will accept that people around him all suffered
similar task to get the same office as him or her.
We all originate with the same mentality, be become someone.
As mostly proceed with the same pathway, until certain circumstances
alters your dreams and perspective. As a child, I pictured myself as a

combat doctor assisting people in a war zone, like those movies. But,
as I grew and encounter dramatic lifestyle changes, my vision
deteriorated. I intended to pursue the major of accounting. Then I
found myself lost and hopeless in CSUN, until I encountered a club,
VSA. It was a social club that soon brought out the color and character
of my personality. I was social. I was open. I was literate. The president
of the club opened doors to me, showing me many views. The socials
threw me with numerous personalities, some similar and many distant.
I gained the insight how people in other schools communicate and
coordinate with their groups. Social literacy isnt exactly the method to
communicate with complete awareness, but to continue learn to
become a resourceful and involved person. Society needs to expand on
how to survive in the real world without any mentor. We need to
understand that striving in a world like this is no easy game; therefore,
we need to find our niche. We all have people close to us, no matter
how blind you are.
As the elders would warn, life is short. We shouldnt be limited by
big picture. Live life day by day. Take advantage of the small presences
in this world, the harsh times and the randomness moments. Those all
contribute to build a persons character and development of social
literacy. One isnt born social literate, they are formed to become
active.

The education is a great impact for expanding the mind. It

grants opportunities for us to explore around us, learn about people,
and converse with others you would never engage in. Our upbringing is
greatly factored by the education we earned. We learn about cultures
and groups that are normally perceived as lethal or unpleasant, but
once we study or interact with them, our perspective changes.
Socializing isnt just recreational, its resourceful and beneficial. In
classrooms, we are encouraged to participate for a reason, to gain
practice the ability to speak to one another and voice your opinions,
rather than playing solitaire on the phone.
