Dear Reader:
The portfolio in front of you represents who I aman energetic, creative, individual
who enjoys learning about new technology and the ways it can be used to help people
work more effectively. On page three of this portfolio, you will find the printed home
page I designed for Operation Reptile Rescue, a local non-profit organization. It
illustrates the advanced features I was able to program into the organizations entire
web site to make it more user-friendly.
When people at school or at home have a computer questions or puzzle to solve, they
come to me for help. I especially like to work on challenging problems, but I enjoy
helping people with just about any question. At school this year, I was awarded the
Grace Hopper Computer Technology Award.
After I graduate from high school, I plan to pursue a degree in Information Technology.
Right now, I am proficient in HTML programming, JavaScript, ColdFusion, and ASP. I am
also able to use PhotoShop. As you browse this portfolio, please pay special attention
to how I use my love of technology to help others.
Sincerely,

Taylor Corbett

I am writing this letter of introduction to give you an idea of my career goals, how I am
going about achieving them, and why my search is the right one for me. Future Farmers
of America (FFA) has given me good leadership abilities; it has taught me how to take
full responsibility and to be ambitious. I have had my own animals since I was ten years
old, and now I have my own breeding and market beef projects. I am doing quite well
with them. I feel I have taken the first steps towards achieving goals, but I know I have a
long way to go. (This paragraph describes qualities and strengths.)
This year I am a junior in high school, completing my vocational courses in Animal
Science. I plan to major in Agriculture. I will accomplish this by going to Santa Rosa
Junior college for two years and finishing my degree at a four-year college. I dont know
exactly which job I want yet, but I know that I like agriculture. I want a job that involves
working with people and offers opportunity for promotion. (This paragraph describes
goals and how to reach them.)
My best work sample was a light experiment with snakes. With my teachers help, I
designed an experiment to show how different levels of light affect a snakes behavior. I
was careful to document each step and record all changes. I learned a lot by doing this;
I learned about how to do an experiment. I had to be very organized and watch the
snakes every day. (This paragraph tells about her best work and tells about what was
learned by doing the work sample.)
I learned a lot by doing this portfolio. It had already helped me before I even finished it.
(I took my portfolio to an interview and got a summer job!) I know that eventually I will
find exactly the right job for me. More and more, I think I would like to go into
agribusiness. (This paragraph highlights special qualities and relates portfolio work to
goals.)
Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern:
I am currently attending Soquel High School where I will be graduating this year in June. I have
enrolled in ROP classes, which are business-oriented. ROP classes have given me a closer look
at the business world, and I have learned excellent work skills. My top five work skills are:

Excellent communication skills with strong listening skills

Responsible and reliable with attention to detail
Strong team player who thrives in teamwork situations
Good computer skills
Excellent time management skills

I have received special acknowledgement from my employers for strong skills and work ethics.
I recently was accepted to CalPoly and plan to go there in the Fall and pursue a degree in
Agribusiness. After receiving my degree, I plan to work in my familys strawberry farming
business. Eventually, I hope to be the president of the business. I have many hobbies including
surfing, skiing and playing baseball but most of all, I enjoy riding my horse up in the hills. It
gives me a sense of freedom and independence.
My portfolio shows some of the skills and abilities I have acquired in while attending Soquel
High School and throughout my work experience. I have always enjoyed landscaping and have
enrolled in the Horticulture class for my last semester of high school. From my past experience
you will notice that I enjoy working especially when I leave the job better than it was when I
first got there. I have been doing tree work for three years and have worked for commercial
and residential customers. Thoroughness and safety are some of my favorite qualities.
Included in this portfolio, is my resume summarizing my schooling, work experience and skills.
In addition, I have a list of references, letters of recommendation, and samples of my work. I
hope you enjoy reviewing my portfolio.
Sincerely,

last few years, I have developed my computer skills greatly and look forward to pursuing my
education and career in the Computer Technology field.
At the Capital Area Technical Center, I have completed the PC Repair and Operating Systems
Course and passed the A-plus exam. Also, I am currently enrolled in the PC Networking course.
I have strong communication and computer skills, including a working knowledge of Windows
98 and Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. I am a well-organized, highly motivated individual
who enjoys challenges in a work environment.
I am an active participant in my area church as well as other local organizations. I have been an
active member in youth bible study class and the youth group of the United Methodist Church

member of the Boy Scouts, and a volunteer for various school and community functions.
After high school graduation, I plan to earn a degree in Computer Technology and enhance my
