In the first case when Monty asked me to choose a curtain, my probability of getting

the car was 1/3 (or 0.33 or 33.33%). When Monty uncovered curtain C and told me
that I can switch from A to B, then my portability of winning the car increased to
(or 0.5 or 50%). Even if I try to choose curtain B, it does not increase my chance of
winning whatsoever.

Network models may be either closed or open panel plans. If the network model
HMO is a closed panel plan, it will only contract with a limited number of existing
group practices. If it is an open panel plan, participation in the group practices will
be open to any physician who meets the HMOs and groups credentials criteria. In
some cases, network model HMOs will assist independent primary care physicians
with the formation of primary care groups for the sole purpose of participating in the
HMOs network.

The primary duty of the board is to serve the interests of the owners. It
accomplishes that by defining a long-term mission for the organization, translating
the mission into a goal-oriented strategic plan and selecting a CEO to implement
the plan. For instance, the board of a multispecialty group practice may commit
itself to becoming a leading component in an integrated delivery system. Towards
the end, it may decide to concentrate on growing its revenues, patient load and
number of managed care contracts. It will more tightly integrate its physicians
practices, gain experience in delivering cost-effective managed care, and increase
proportion of PHOs (physician hospital organization) and join them through the local
hospitals.
