Students prior knowledge and experience:

Students know how to write out sentences to resemble their feelings and
know their adjectives to describe a picture.

Learning purpose:

Students practice their writing skills to write out sentences in their

security blanket that makes them feel safe.
Students will practice their creativity, as they have to draw their
sentences out.
It allows the students to go back and think about a time they didnt
feel safe.

Learning objectives:

The task gIveS the students

basic understanding of how to
use their adjective to describe
their feelings
Enabled students to improve
on there writing skills.
The task helped students to
understand how their
classmates felt when they were
alone.

Evaluation:

Ask the students as a

whole class to share their
ideas of their security
blanket.
Randomly selected
students to share what
makes him/ her safe.
Stroll around the class
making sure every
student had filled his/her
sheet and give them a
good complement.

Preparation and Resources:

The book My two blankets

Work sheets My security blanket
Pencils and colours (supplied by the students).

Catering for diversity

The lesson prepared for the students is built in catering system. As

students are asked to write a sentence of what kind of object that
makes them feel safe.
All the students will work on their own level, as the classroom has
high achievers and low achievers, and both have to write their own set
of questions, as each student is at different reading levels and the
activity catered at their own learning level.
The task also caters for their imagination and draws them out.
I also suggest to students to colour their pictures they drew they
finished all their work, so that gives the high achievers to do
something whilst the rest finish their work.

Once they finished writing their sentences, I check and

corrected them and send them back to draw a picture
symbolising their sentence.
Ask the students to share ideas with the class and talk about
what we learnt.

Lesson Evaluation:
The lesson was successful as everything worked out as planned,
although I missed out on mentioning that the book was a special book
from book week.
Need to improve on classroom management

Whilst reading the book I need to stop and explain whats happening

throughout the book to make sure the children dont loose their
concentration.
Relating the story to my own experience helped students understand
on what the book was about.
