Announcing the State Consultation for MSM & Transgender ‘Celebrating Gains, Confronting
Crises, Forging Future’ organised by MANAS Bangla to be held in Kolkata, at Science City Mini
Theatre & Seminar Halls, B.S Haldane Avenue, Kolkata 700 046 between March 18 - 19, 2010.

The meeting is expected to bring together over 300 transgender and males who have sex
with males from over 12 districts of West Bengal and other important stakeholders including
policy makers from government and donor bodies.

This apart, the consultation is poised to open the dialogue on issues concerning marginalised
male to male sexualities and transgender and hijra communities with academicians, students,
other development practitioners, activists and human rights advocates from intersecting
rights based movements.

Time: Registration 8.00 am onwards.

Conference Session 9.00 am to 6 pm on both days

Registration: Prior registration is recommended. A limited number of daily registrations will be

available at the consultation venue for visitors.

Objective:
 The consultation, the first of its kind in West Bengal, is being envisioned as a space that
will bring together communities of marginalised sexual orientations and gender identities, from
across the state.
 The consultation will provide scope for building capacities of communities and community
led groups by way of organising various issue based workshops and discussion forums.
 The meeting will also be the first such interface between communities and policy makers –
government and donor.
