Content Activity Reflection

The content activity focuses on the concepts of motion, inertia, and mass. It elaborates on

possible situations, such as a track runner pushing off a starting block, to show real-life examples of

forces being displayed in the world around us. In the 'Application' portion of the content activity,

students are asked to do an activity that allows them to experience these concepts first-hand and in the

classroom. The task includes two different size marbles that are pushed and used in various ways to

show forces and reaction. In conclusion of the complete activity, students are asked to elaborate and

explain what they have learned through a half-page report and a summarization.

Two INTASC Standards used are Standard 4: Multiple Instructional Strategies and Standard 8:

Assessment. Learning their content in more than one way, both direct instruction and through an

activity, give the students a well-rounded learning experience, as displayed by Standard 4. Standard 8

reigns true in the fact that the students were required to summarize and explain, correctly and

thoroughly, the concepts learned.

These implications impact teaching and instruction because of the variety of instructional

methods they present. They allow the students to interact with what they are learning for a better

overall impression of the concepts.
