understand and apply the different types of data collection and types of data

understand frequency distribution curves

apply research method knowledge to case studies

analyse case studies/experiments and formulate and identify hypotheses, IVs, DVs, EVs, etc

IV: the colour of a students eyes
DV: appearance of discriminatory behaviour
Participants: 16 year 3 students
Population: American children, children of the school, American people in general?
Sample: convenience sampling
Data collection type: observation naturalistic or non-naturalistic?
EVs: a child who is perhaps unaffected by prejudice doesn't exhibit discriminatory behaviour... ?
Ethical issues: Jane needed to make sure that the experiment didn't have any long-term damage on her students
and their mental and emotional states; she needed to provide counselling if necessary. Confidentiality full
identities weren't revealed, should parental consent been achieved first? Withdrawal rights did the children have
the right to withdraw if they felt particularly uncomfortable?
