The Allusion to Equality
Anthem is a piece of writing written by Ayn Rand. Equality 7-2521 is different.
Equality has too much knowledge. His mind thinks differently. Equality has broken
laws. We have an equal society, yet they dont want to be apart of it. HIs invention.
Equality is a threat. Equality 7-2521 is different. He was never like the others. Equality
7-2521 wants to change the society.
Throughout the piece, there are many religious allusions. There are allusions to
the bible and to temples and more. Throughout the story,it relates the main character
(Equality 7-2521) to the main character of the bible (Jesus Christ). There is an allusion
to Adam and Eve and the garden. In the story it also talks about temples and religion.
Equality 7-2521 is an allusion to Jesus Christ. In the story,Equality follows his own
knowledge and kind of starts to do whatever he wants and he gets lashed for his
decisions.
This writing has not one,but many ways of showing allusion to religion. In the
first 20 pages of the story, the author describes a palace or a temple and how the people
of the story would go to the temple or palace and sing songs. In a church, you would go
there and sing songs and worship your religion and thats what they did in the story.
Ayn Rand seemed to be giving hints all throughout the story that there were religious
allusions. This palace or church came up more than once and on one page the author

wrote about how all the people would gather in the church and sings songs and
worship. The author gave a big hit here by putting this part into the the piece of writing.
The author wrote towards the end of the book how the main character and his
wife went into a forest. It said that the main character looked in the stream and saw his
reflection. This is an allusion to the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible. The main
character and his wife live in the forest and they hunt, eat, and everything in the forest.
This is another religious allusion that the author wrote about. In this part of the authors
writing she was not only relating the main character to the bible, but also his companion
or partner. Although this allusion was not exactly like the story in the bible of adam and
eve, there were some parts in the writing that did relate to the story of adam and eve.
In the story Anthem there is a big religious allusion to the bible. The author
writes about the main character and how he gets lashed for his doings. The main
character in the beginning of the book lived equal like everyone else and then further
into the book,he starts to become independent. The main character makes decisions
and tries to do things that are better for the society but the council did not approve of
his doings so he gets whipped or lashed. The council did not agree with what the main
character thought was right and they thought that he had too much knowledge. The
main character, like jesus christ, thought not for just what was best for him,but what was
best for the society. In the bible,Jesus was the child of God and he has many great
stories of the miracles he has done and how he has helped people in many different
ways. Jesus did things and ended up getting whipped for them (like the main character
in Anthem) and he ended up sacrificing himself to save everyone from their own sins. In
Anthem, the main character made an invention and wanted to share his idea with world

and he wanted to give everyone freedom, but when he shared his idea with the
council, they were going to send him some place to get punished. The main character
and jesus christ both shared their ideas and things with the world but they both ended
up getting punished for it. This is in my opinion the biggest religious allusion in the
book.
This writing has many religious allusions. The author shows religious allusions
all throughout the book. Ayn Rand wrote about the main character and she related him
to none other than jesus christ. The author related the main character and his wife to
the story of adam and eve in the bible,in the beginning of the story, she was already
giving hints of religious allusion by talking about temples and palaces. These allusions
are pretty important because they point out that the author was giving out hints all
throughout the book and she might have even based the story off of religion. The
author related ,the main character ,the society, and the main character and his
companion all to the bible. The religious allusions in this book were pretty
important. Equality...an allusion to our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
