Assemblyman Walter T. Mosleys Statement on 14th Anniversary of
9/11
As our city commemorate that faithful day 14 years ago, we remember all who were lost in the
tragedy, the countless first/emergency responders, and those selfless service members who have
given their lives in the war on terror. We reflect on how much the world has changed since
September 11th, from that tragic day to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, to the manhunt for Bin
Laden that ended in justice being served in Pakistan.
Even in light of these events, today we still face the threat of domestic terrorist acts, from the Fort
Hood shooting to the four Marines killed in Tennessee just this past July - these attacks are
extricable linked to gun violence, but I firmly believe through our continued vigilance that we
will find a way to address this ongoing concern.
I pray for the comfort for the families who have lost loved ones on 9/11 and the families of the
men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that we never see a tragedy on
this magnitude ever again.
