Six Trigonometric Ratios: 

Cos (x) = x‐coordinate of any angle  Sec (x) = the reciprocal of Cos (x) 

Sin (x) = y‐coordinate of any angle  Csc (x) = the reciprocal of Sin (x) 

Tan (x) = slope of terminal side  Cot (x) = the reciprocal of Tan (x) 

Positive angle: counter clock‐wise direction Negative angle: clock‐wise direction 

The measure in radians describes the distance of the arc traveled along the unit circle. For example, an 

angle of 2 radians implies that a distance of 2 units has been traveled along the unit circle in the positive 
direction beginning at point (1, 0). All angles begin at point (1, 0).
