Velocity downstream of HR attemperator is above recommended value. See item 4 herein.

Piping downstream of the attemperator is matched to the vendor's end connection. No minimum wall is calculated.

By-Pass Line Sizing Calculation

Item
Attribute
Yes
1 Are the design inputs such as maximum and design temperature/pressure,
flow rates, been identified and references provided? Has the proper design
temperature and pressure been selected (if not provided as design input)?
Have all design inputs been approved for use and properly identified?
2
3

No

Does the calculation contain any unverified assumptions?

Was the calculation methodology used correct and the results reasonable?

Has pipe been sized to permit a flow velocity in the range of 150 - 200fps
downstream of the turbine by-pass valve?
5 Has the proper valve pressure class been selected based upon the design
input?
6 Has the minimum pipe wall thickness been established?
7 Based upon pipe wall thickness and the design inputs, has the proper PDT
been selected?
8 Are relief valve set points enveloped by the pipe design pressure?
9 Are the pipe pressure drop analyses/sizing bases consistent with the final
pipe physical routing shown on the design drawings?
10 Has the pressure drop analysis used correct (vendor verified values) loss
values for the various equipment and valves that make up the system?
11 Has the analysis established a basis for pipe line sizes, minimum wall
thickness, PDT, for each pipe line number shown on the P&ID?
12 Are the results of the calculation (pipe
pressure/temperature/PDT/VDT/size, etc.) correctly incorporated on the
Pipe Line and Valve lists?
13 Has the spray water design pressure been properly selected?
14 Has the spray water supply piping been properly sized and PDT selected?
15 If the bypass system requires steam assist for the spray water to the
attemperator, has the steam line sizing been addressed?
16 Did the analysis consider any worst case operating mode that may lead to
a pressure spike?
