some small exhibitions of well-known artists from abroad. In
March 2010 the gallery moved to Minami-Horie. In this new
space, the gallery was renewed as a contemporary art gallery
and named Tezukayama Gallery, after its original birthplace. Since its opening as a contemporary art gallery, the

representatives from both the City and University, the University

accomplishments and accumulated know-how. The Museum acts as a

venue for the collection, preservation and exhibition of manga and animation materials, which have been
accumulated through generous donation from both individuals and companies.
After lunch, visit Kiyomizu Temple and Nishijin Textile Center

Kiyomizu Temple: Kiyomizu-dera was founded in the early Heian period. The temple was founded in 778, and its
present buildings were constructed in 1633, ordered by the
Tokugawa Iemitsu. There is not a single nail used in the entire
structure. It takes its name from the waterfall within the
complex, which runs off the nearby hills. Kiyomizu means
clear water, or pure water.
It was originally affiliated with the old and influential Hoss
sect dating from Nara times. However, in 1965 it severed that
affiliation, and its present custodians call themselves
members of the "Kitahoss" sect.

Nishijin Textile Center: The Nishijin Textile Center, located in

Imadegawa, is a modern-style building where demonstrations and
exhibits are held on the theme of the traditional Nishijin textile
industry. In addition to a kimono show (6 times a day) are handweaving demonstrations and a display of historical materials. It is the
perfect place to take in the beauty of gorgeous Nishijin textiles. Here
you can also dress up as a maiko, geiko in a junihitoe (12-layer
kimono). (There is an admission charge.) After visit, transfer back to
Osaka.
