Introduction:
DVOR DME SVB 111.4MHz has been declared to be available on Test only and should not
be used.
Applicability: Flight Operations (Pilots/Flight Dispatchers)
Purpose: To edify Pilots and Dispatcher about the alternative operation procedures
during non-availability of DVOR DME SVB.
Procedures to be followed during non-availability of SVB:
1. The Flight following ATS Route L507 needs to be filed in ATS Plan as L507 BKK DCT
VTBS for all arrivals and VTBS DCT BKK L507 for departures
2. Refer OFP/CFP for the revised route. Route not available in NAVDB. Crew to build
route manually.
3. All Arrivals to request for RADAR Vectors
4. All Departures to request for RADAR Vectors
5. VOR Approaches are not (R) not to be carried out as VOR is notified not to be used.
Pilots are advised to carry out ILS approaches.
6. In case of missed approach, do not follow missed approach procedures as
published on Jeppesen approach plates for ILS all Runways.
7. In case during ILS approach, the Aircraft has to carryout missed approach, should
climb straight ahead to 3000 ft. and expect ATC instructions.
8. Maintain same frequency do not change till instructed by ATC/RADAR.
9. Arriving Aircraft: In case of Radio Communication Failure the Aircraft to Squawk
7600 and proceed to BKK and at EAT proceed direct to and intercept FAF to carry
out the appropriate approach and Land. Exist at appropriate Taxiway and wait for
Follow Me Jeep.
10. Departing Aircraft: Squawk 7600, Climb to last assigned level till reaching next
Compulsory Reporting Point and thereafter climb to Filed Flight Plan Level and
proceed to destination

Introduction:
AAI at Bhubaneshwar had conducted a major renovation of apron. There exist a large
number of changes in the apron. Now the Apron is available with new/revised markings
for trial operations.
Crew and Ground staff are advised to be cautious when operating on renovated apron.
Purpose: The purpose of this brief is to educate Pilots when operating on BBI Apron.
Applicability: Pilots, Flight Dispatchers, AOCS BBI
Caution:
1. New Parking stands 1,2,3,4 can accommodate A321 and are Power In/Power Out
Stands.
2. Parking stand 5,6 and 7 can accommodate A321 and are available with AERO
Bridge
3. Parking Stand 9, 10,11,12,13 are Power In/Power Out and can accommodate B200.
4. Taxiway C is available for operations.
5. Portion of apron shown with X is not available for operations due painting W.I.P.
6. Crew are advised to follow Signal Man and in case of any ambiguity request ATC to
provide FOLLOW ME Jeep.
7. Parking Stand 8 not available for operations.

Subject: High EGT during Engine Start

Reason for Issue:


This Technical Notice is being issued to avoid occurrences of high EGT during engine start mainly on Select
One Engines whenever the OAT is at or above 40 C. As the hot summers are approaching it is becoming
increasingly evident that bringing EGT below a certain level with extended motoring is not possible while
following and remaining within the starter limitations. The hot climatic conditions in the Indian
Subcontinent have to be dealt with a slight change in the manual engine start procedure. On a few
occasions up to three start attempts have failed. In some cases ENG EGT OVER LIMIT ECAM warning has
been reported during start cycle with these engines.
Applicability
Many of IGO aircraft have an inter-mix of Select and Non-Select engines. It may not be practical to
mention the affected aircraft. Hence this is being promulgated to standardize a common starting
procedure for all engines.
Background
With the approaching summers in the Indian subcontinent, it is observed that the cases of High EGT during
manual engine start are on the rise and it is not possible with extended motoring to bring the residual
EGT below a certain limit; as a consequence, a split in the OAT conditions as deciding factor, was
warranted. On the recommendations from IAE (International Aero Engines) and Airbus; as an interim
measure this procedure has been formulated. Airbus clarification; 'Airbus Flight Operations recommends
that you evaluate this time according to your own operations' is being followed.
Description
IAE is working on a software change to be released with SCN 22 FADEC software. As an interim measure
IAE has recommended, that whenever the OAT is at or above 40C, manual engine start with extended
motoring should be attempted.
During a Manual start procedure, the Engine Master Switch has to be put ON when both; N2
reaches the maximum motoring speed (minimum 15 %) and completion of 30 seconds after selection of
the MAN START pushbutton.

In order to achieve a successful manual start, do not attempt start unless N2 is at least 15% and
EGT has dropped as per the conditions given below:

If OAT is 40 - 45C, ensure that EGT is less than 150C before selecting Engine Master Switch to ON
If OAT is above 45C , ensure that EGT is less than 125C before selecting Engine Master Switch to ON

To achieve this, there may be a need to go beyond the mentioned 30 sec. The starter time limit of 2 min
must be followed.
In case EGT is greater than 150C (OAT is 40-45C) or greater than 125C (OAT is above 45C) after
extended motoring of up to 1 Min 15 Sec then continue motoring till starter limitation of 2 min. Do not
select Master Switch ON as the Starter LIMIT time would be exceeded. In such a case,
subsequently carry out a second separate start attempt.
Limitation

Pause between start attempts: 15 seconds

Cooling period, following 3 start attempts: 30 min

Operational recommendation: summarized mitigation / interim plan:


Whenever the OAT is 40C or tail wind component is 10 kt (Check with ATC for a different
direction for pushback to avoid wind limitation) a Manual engine start with extended motoring should be
attempted, so as to bring EGT below 150C (OAT is 40-45C) or below 125C (OAT is above 45C) before
Engine Master Switch is selected ON.
In case an automatic start is aborted by EEC or aborted manually, the next start should be a manual start
with extended motoring (keeping in mind Engine starter operating time limitation) to avoid EGT reaching
the max permissible limit of 635C. However, if EGT continues to rise, IAE recommends that the start
should only be aborted if EGT exceeds 635 C, which will latch an ECAM warning. In the manual
start mode, the engine remains longer on starter assisted motoring speeds before light up occurs.
Extended motoring helps to cool down the engine from a previous run, which helps lowering the EGT
during hot days.
Engines are life line in aviation and expensive to maintain. Follow SOPs.
This Notice supersedes Technical Notice 16B.

SAFETY PROCEDURES
1.1 GENERAL WARNING
The VDGS System has a built-in error detection program to inform the aircraft pilot of impending
dangers during the docking procedure.
IF THE PILOT IS UNSURE OF THE INFORMATION BEING SHOWN ON THE VDGS DISPLAY UNIT, HE
MUST IMMEDIATELY STOP THE AIRCRAFT AND OBTAIN FUTHER INFORMATION FOR CLEARANCE.
1.2 ITEMS TO CHECK BEFORE ENTERING THE STAND AREA
WARNING: THE PILOT SHALL NOT ENTER THE STAND AREA, UNLESS THE DOCKING SYSTEM FIRST
IS SHOWING THE VERTICAL RUNNING ARROWS. THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE
BRIDGE, UNLESS THESE ARROWS HAVE BEEN SUPERSEDED BY THE CLOSING RATE BAR.

SUCH AS "DOOR 2," SHALL ALSO BE CHECKED.
1.3 THE SBU MESSAGE
The message STOP SBU means that docking has been interrupted and has to be resumed only by
manual guidance. DO NOT TRY TO RESUME DOCKING WITHOUT MANUAL GUIDANCE.
1.4 OVERSHOOT PROCEDURES
Passenger loading bridges will be activated in the range as follows:
a) between 0.01-1.50 meters are normally serviceable.
b) between 1.51-2.00 meters, passenger loading bridge called "L1" is only serviceable,
if the PLB called "L2" is required, the aircraft shall push back to correct stop-position.
c) the distance over 2.00 meters, passenger loading bridges are unserviceable,
if required the aircraft shall push back to correct stop-position.
d) ANY OVERSHOOT DISTANCE IS MADE BY A380, PUSH BACK TO CORRECT STOP POSITION
IS NEEDED WHEN PASSENGER LOADING BRIDGES ARE REQUIRED.

2. DOCKING PROCEDURE
START-OF-DOCKING
The system is started by pressing one of the aircraft type
buttons on the Operator Panel. When the button has been
pressed, WAIT will be displayed.

Red

CAPTURE
The floating arrows indicate that the system is activated
and in capture mode, searching for an approaching aircraft.
It shall be checked that the correct aircraft type is
displayed. The lead-in line shall be followed.
THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE BRIDGE, UNLESS
THE ARROWS HAVE BEEN SUPERSEDED BY THE CLOSING RATE BAR.

Red
Yellow

TRACKING
When the aircraft has been caught by the laser, the
floating arrow is replaced by the yellow center line
indicator.
A flashing red arrow indicates the direction to turn.

Flashing
Red

The vertical yellow arrow shows position in relation to the


center line. This indicator gives correct position and azimuth
guidance.

CLOSING RATE
Display of digital countdown will start when the aircraft is
20 meters from stop position.
When the aircraft is less than 12 meters from the stop
position, the closing rate is indicated by turning off one
row of the center line symbol per 0.5 meters, covered by
the aircraft. Thus, when the last row is turned off, 0.5 meters
remains to stop.

ALIGNED TO CENTER
The aircraft is eight meters from the stop position. The absence
of direction arrow indicates an aircraft on the center line.

SLOW DOWN
If the aircraft is approaching faster than the accepted
speed, the system will show SLOW DOWN as a warning
to the pilot.

AZIMUTH GUIDANCE
The aircraft is four meters from the stop-position. The
yellow arrow indicates an aircraft to the right of the center
line, and the direction to turn.

STOP POSITION REACHED


When the correct stop-position is reached, the display will
show STOP and red lights will be lit.

DOCKING COMPLETED
When the aircraft has parked, OK will be displayed.

OVERSHOOT
If the aircraft has overshot the stop-position, TOO FAR
will be displayed for 120 seconds.

STOP SHORT
If the aircraft is found standing still but has not reached
the intended stop position, the message STOP OK will be
shown after a while.

WAIT
If some object is blocking the view toward the approaching
aircraft or the detected aircraft is lost during docking
before 12 meters to STOP, the display will show WAIT.
The docking will continue as soon as the blocking object
has disappeared or the system detects the aircraft again.
THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE BRIDGE, UNLESS
THE "WAIT" MESSAGE HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED BY THE CLOSING
RATE BAR.

BAD WEATHER CONDITION
During heavy fog, rain or snow, the visibility for the
docking system can be reduced.
When the system is activated and in capture mode, the
display will disable the floating arrows and display SLOW
and the Aircraft Type.
As soon as the system detects the approaching aircraft,
the vertical closing-rate bar will appear.
If the system has been configured in this mode to make a
shortened ID verification (check of engine position excluded),
the aircraft symbol will blink to give attention.
THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE BRIDGE, UNLESS
THE CLOSING-RATE BAR IS SHOWN.
AIRCRAFT VERIFICATION FAILURE
During entry into the stand, the aircraft geometry is being
checked. If, for any reason, aircraft verification is not
made 12 meters before the stop-position, the display will
first show WAIT and make a second verification check. If
this fails STOP and ID FAIL will be displayed. The text will
be alternating on the upper two rows of the display.
THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE BRIDGE WITHOUT
MANUAL GUIDANCE, UNLESS THE WAIT MESSAGE HAS BEEN
SUPERSEDED BY THE CLOSING RATE BAR.

GATE BLOCKED
If an object is found blocking the view from the DGS to the
planned stop position for the aircraft, the docking procedure
will be halted with a WAIT and GATE BLOCK message.
The docking procedure will resume as soon as the blocking
object has been removed.
THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE BRIDGE WITHOUT
MANUAL GUIDANCE, UNLESS THE WAIT MESSAGE HAS BEEN
SUPERSEDED BY THE CLOSING RATE BAR.

VIEW BLOCKED
If the view towards the approaching aircraft is hindered,
for instance by dirt on the window, the DGS will report a
View blocked condition. Once the system is able to see
the aircraft through the dirt, the message will be replaced
with a closing rate display.
THE PILOT MUST NOT PROCEED BEYOND THE BRIDGE WITHOUT
MANUAL GUIDANCE, UNLESS THE WAIT MESSAGE HAS BEEN
SUPERSEDED BY THE CLOSING RATE BAR.

SBU-STOP
Any unrecoverable error during the docking procedure will
generate an SBU (safety back-up) condition. The display
will show red stop bar and the text STOP SBU.
A MANUAL BACKUP PROCEDURE MUST BE USED FOR
DOCKING GUIDANCE.

TOO FAST
If the aircraft approaches with a speed higher than the
docking system can handle, the message STOP (with red
squares) and TOO FAST will be displayed.
THE DOCKING SYSTEM MUST BE RE-STARTED OR THE
DOCKING PROCEDURE COMPLETED BY MANUAL GUIDANCE.
EMERGENCY STOP
When the Emergency Stop button is pressed, STOP is displayed.

CHOCKS ON
CHOCK ON will be displayed, when the ground staff has
put the chocks in front of the nose wheel and pressed the
"Chocks On" button on the Operator Panel.

MANUAL DOCKING
When a docking is to be performed manually the system
will display "MAN" on the tableau. The system will not
give any guidance for the docking operation.

ERROR
If a system error occurs, the message ERROR is displayed
with an error code. The code is used for maintenance
purposes and explained elsewhere.

SYSTEM BREAKDOWN
In case of a severe system failure, the display will go
black, except for a red stop indicator. A manual backup
procedure must be used for docking guidance.

POWER FAILURE
In case of a power failure, the display will be completely
black. A manual backup procedure must be used for
docking guidance.

3. EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON INFORMATION


Emergency stop buttons are available at both of contact gates
and remote parking stands. When unsafe situation is considered,
the emergency stop button shall be pressed by bridge driver,
marshaller or the ground engineer of the airline or handling agent.
Emergency stop buttons are installed in the locations as follows:
a) at the control panel in the bridge cab
b) at the bridge rotunda
c) at the stand identification posts
REMARK: the identification of passenger loading bridge (L1 or L2)
is followed by the aircraft door positions.

Introduction:
IndiGo has commenced new flight out between Kolkata and Bangkok. Based on the
present circumstances procedures for transiting Cockpit Crew have been structured
for seamless operations.
Applicability: Pilots/Flight Dispatcher/AOCS Staff at Kolkata and Bangkok
Purpose: To edify Cockpit Crew regarding transiting Crew.
Guidelines for Cockpit Crew:
A. IGO-075/076(CCU-BKK-CCU)
1. Captain and First Officer operating flight IGO145 AMDCCU(VAAH-VECC):
a) After disembarkation from the aircraft, Crew to directly proceed to the
check in counters, where the GD, CBD will be handed over.
b) There after the AOCS staff will inform Ops/Inflight department to release
the cabin crew to check in counters, where they will clear immigrations
and customs with the Cockpit Crew. Once the Crew reach boarding gate
the briefing can be conducted at that point.
2. The operating Cockpit Crew of IGO075 will have a layover at BKK and will
then operate the IGO076 the next day.
B. IGO-077/078(CCU-BKK-CCU)
1. The operating Cockpit Crew of IGO077 to report to back up office where all
documentation will be made available to them. Briefing is done in back up
office.
2. Cockpit Crew and Cabin Crew then have to clear immigration and customs
formalities together on GD.
3. Same Cockpit Crew will be operating IGO078.
