Read this P&C report on May 13 published by National Operation Council (MAGERAN) This is the true independent version based on reports by multi-racial security officers. Unless one would rather believe the racist unsubstianted hearsay of malaysiakini and DAP version , then susah la....lets the fact speaks for itself...
I love to learn that despite the Malays prevailed, they acted with much restrained despite they could have ran amuck (for the abuses they were subject to in the precedent event), so much so.. relatively very low number of casulaties recorded. If other indigenous people elsewhere in the world were the subject of the humialition and abuses, definately the casualties would be in tens of thousands (or rather practically it is an ethnic cleasing) and the clashes would last for months.
I can tell u, the are more untold stories of Malays protecting non-Malays during 13th May episode.. a lot more than the 'favorite' stories of Malays abusing Chinese. Kudos to Malay..Kudos to Muslims
Kudos to Police and Armed forces that they menaged to contain the incident within 24 hours and within KL only.
"To defend Malaya from Communist insurgency, the Government embarked on an effort to recruit the Chinese to join the police force. Between 1949 to 1951, the effort of the government to attract the Chinese to defend the nation against the MCP met with little success. Only 200 chinese youths volunteered. When National Service was introduced in 1950, considerable amount of Chinese and Indians sought to leave the country. Over 10,000 chinese fled to China to avoid call-up. This further added to the resentment among the Malays and even Sir Henry Gurney commented –
“A feeling of resentment is growing among all the other communities of the apparent reluctance of the Chinese to help. These people (the Chinese) live comfortably and devote themselves wholly to making money…” .
"The fall of Malay Malacca Sultanate to the Portuguese was due to the betrayal of the Chinese merchants, who gave the Portuguese ‘information and placing their junks at his (Portuguese) disposal’ (Purcell 1965:239). It was noted that ‘when the Portuguese fleet announced its arrival with a fanfare of trumpets, the Chinese merchants who were in Malacca made their way to present their respects to the commander’ (Purcell 1965:239).

May 13, 1969 will go down in our history as a day of national tragedy. On that day the very foundation of this Nation was shaken by racial disturbances whose violence far surpassed any we had known. It was only the firm and prompt action of the Government. together with the
