Come share your ideas about the Red River and floodplain issues within our community with
Jackie Brookner. Ms. Brookner is an ecological artist who is recognized throughout the world
for her installation of living sculptures, called Biosculptures. Her projects demonstrate how the
resources of stormwater can be reclaimed and used to create lush environments and
multifunctional public spaces. She will introduce her work in a meet and greet setting. Cash Bar

Lecture: “Community Water, and the Being of Human”

Jackie Brookner, a visiting ecological artist will be visiting the NDSU Architecture and
Landscape Architecture Department, including a formal presentation to the public. Her
presentation focuses on her collaboration with ecologists, designers, communities and policy
makers about reclaiming stormwater as a resource.

Jackie Brookner, will focus on quotes from her book Urban Rain. The focus will be on the larger
philosophical/spiritual context within her work. Ms. Brookner creates living sculptures that
clean polluted water, integrating ecological revitalization with the conceptual, metaphoric and
aesthetic capacities of sculpture.
