Introduction:
Ray and Kelly started a company called Wild Wear which produces goods that
caters to outdoor enthusiasts. The company grew substantially initially and then
hit a plateau.
Problem:
Susan Harrington is unable to decide whether she should fire Jack Reed
on the basis of circumstantial blame placed upon him by the employees or
should she give him a chance as there are no solid evidences against him.
Outside Concept:
Quantitative
Irrespective of the fact that its just been 6 months since Jack has joined the
company, his colleagues have come to a conclusion that he is behind all the
recent happening in the office just based on the fact alone that he was once in a
jail.
Qualitative
Since Susan herself had already been an ex- convict, she understands
Jack Reeds dedication to work.
Jacks fellow coworkers who once appreciated his work and were friends
with him, perceived such an incident on previous records and how badly
they stereotyped it.
Result of analysis:
On the basis of circumstances, after the discovery of Jack Reeds history, the
employees judged him and arrived at a conclusion of requesting Susan to fire
him.
Alternative Actions:
Susan could ask for more evidence of Jack's guilt and then speak with
each employee.
Employees could inform Susan or they could speak to Jack in person.
The new clerk should have discussed with Susan and not with the
employees.
Susan should not tolerate such things in her office, people need evidence
if they are accusing someone of something.
To assure the employees that the case is in her notice and there is nothing
to worry about.
Strict monitoring on Jack could be done so that he is caught red handed if
he has not really given up the habit of stealing.
To hire a secret agent or team to find out who is behind all this.
Q1. Explain the events in this case in terms of perception and attitudes.
