RESTON’S military muse-
um is set to open on Satur-
days from Easter, it has been
confirmed.
The 80-year-old Queen’s Lancashire
Regimental Museum at Fulwood
Barracks is looking for former sol-
diers from the county or military his-
torians to volunteer at the attraction.
The Evening Post took a tour of the
museum described as a “hidden
gem” by trustee Roger Goodwin.
He said: “It has aspects which will
appeal to all sorts of people. It’s the
largest archive of regimental mili-

● Military history and the
Preston Pals
● The names of Preston’s
military dead since World War II
one of the largest in the country. It’s
particularly rich in material from
the 19th century, including items
from the Peninsular War.
“We want the museum to become
much better known. It’s part of Pre-
ston’s heritage and Preston has
every right to be proud of it.”
Among the key artefacts at the
museum are:
● A vast and “priceless” medal col-
lection dating back to when the first
medals were handed out during the
American War of Independence
● First and Second World War
relics including items produced by
prisoners of war (PoWs) after being
captured by the Japanese.
