REVIEW of RELATED LITERATURE and STUDIES

This chapter presents various related literatures, systems and studies on automated
systems, web or Intranet and SMS billing related services which are relevant in the
conduct of this study.

Related Literature
University of Virginia Student Payment Information
According to the website of University of Virginia (2012), stated that on
the beginning in Fall 2007, the Amherst Campus introduced QuikPAY, an
electronic system for all students to view their bills, print their bills and make
payments online. As a convenience during the transition to QuikPAY, the student
will receive both a paper and an electronic bill.
The QuickPAY system is very flexible for the students to view and print
their bill electronically 24 hours and 7 days a week from any location through
Intranet. Payment history of the students can be viewed also.
Related Studies
Laura Hotel Billing System
According to Mr. Harley V. Lampawog, a computer instructor of North
Negros College who went through a thesis entitled Laura Hotel Billing System.
The billing system is also associated with accounts receivable, wherein the clients

are able to charge the bill from any of the amenities used, fast food, bar and
Intranet cafe or even additional rooms and beddings. The clients are able to
access their billing statement within the Intranet.
Synthesis
The related literature, studies and system provided great bases on the importance
of implementing an automated student billing system. These had generated massive
distinction on the way students and cashier deals with the billing information in a
performance and cost efficient means. The same related experiences had been discussed
in regards with the transition of many colleges from manual procedures to automated
system not only in online system but also to mobile billing. The physical medium that
was traditionally used and practiced system indeed not only labor-intensive but was also
expensive and with possibility of hacking the system with the use of Intranet, which pop
up in the mind of the researcher that the account receivable system will be implemented
in Intranet.
The related literature, studies and system and technical background confirms the
researchers perspective on the significance and success of automating the Cashiers
Office of North Negros College.
