We warn in advance that finding a room in or around Delft by yourself will be quite challenging. In the same period that you are looking for
accommodation our future Dutch students are doing the same (especially in summer). And they have the advantage to be able to come to
Delft and look for accommodation in person. If you want to find your own apartment (e.g. because you do not want or cannot rent an
apartment from DUWO), there are many real estate agents specialized in rental homes, apartments or rooms.
Note:
The amount of (cheap) rooms they have available is often very small, especially in the months before a new academic
year
On the internet rooms are being offered that do not really exist; check our page Rental Fraud for more details and advise
Once you did not opt for DUWO accommodation in your Confirmation Statement you lose the right to be accommodated
by TU Delft/DUWO. If you would decide to choose for DUWO accommodation after all, newly arriving students always
have priority. We will however try to help you if we have a surplus of rooms. Nevertheless here are some useful links to
help you find a place on your own.

More information:
If you see makelaar (real estate brooker) or makelaardij (real estate company in the links mentioned above you are
usually dealing with proper companies. NVM ones are officially recognised; but the logo and quality mark can be
abused of course. Offers for (single) rooms are usualy from private persons.
You will need a permanent, legal address in the Netherlands in order to apply for a Visa and/or Residence permit
When comparing accommodation prices look carefully what is included and what is not. DUWO rents include e.g.
energy, taxes and internet; commercial offers may not. Also look whether VAT (BTW in Dutch is included).
Complete houses that are offered are mostly bare, so without carpets, curtains, a washing machine and fridge etc.
Only a kitchen work top and sink will usually be installed.
