I have worked with many ASD students before in the past, however the most effective
strategyIuseisacombinationofmakingtheadjustmentsinplanning,totheenvironmentand
tomyownpersonalteachingpedagogy.Ihaveensuredwhenexplainingtaskstostudentto
ensureitis detailedandclearlyexplained.IhavebeencollectingobservationsofmyASD
studenttoprovetheyunderstandthecontent. Ihaveensuredtotalktothestudentsabout
appropriatecommunicationandwehavedonelostofworkonbuildingrelationships.Ihave
alsoalteredthelearningenvironmentbycreatingspacesthatareclearlylabelledwithvisual
quesandsetupwithrelevantequipment.IbelievethesestrategieswereeffectivefortheASD
students within my classroom, as they were more willing to participate and engage in
assessment.
