Two Problems on Interacting Random Walks

Arnab Datta
Interacting random walks come up in the modelling of many important physical problems
such as absorption, fragmentation etc. There are many variations of interacting random
walks. Among them the lions lamb problem is an interesting one related to modelling of
chemical reactions. I will talk about the survival probability of the lamb when chased by two
lions. Another important variation is the modelling of crack propagation, which is related to
fragmentation, glacier calving etc. I will show the distribution of fragment area obtained by
simulating a geometrical model of crack propagation.
