absences/tardies will result in being fired from your team (let me assure you, this is a VERY
BAD IDEA you will need/want help from your classmates).
Expectations: We expect students in this class to reach beyond a high school level.
It is the students responsibility to be prepared for class daily. Notebook, paper and pencils
are required in class every day.
Students are expected to be active participants in class by taking notes, completing all
assignments, participating in class discussions, and collaborating with other students.
There will not be a lot of homework in this class so I expect you to give me every minute of
your class time.
Students are expected to show respect to the teacher, other students, and school property
at all times.
All assignments that are turned in must be neat, well-organized, and of the HIGHEST
QUALITY.
How and why your (team) work is created is KEY in this class. You will be required to
COMPLETELY justify all work in both written and verbal form (no questions left
unanswered). Your work must ALWAYS speak for itself.
Everyone on the team is responsible and accountable to each other and themselves.
Tenacity is required not only in this class, but in life beyond high school and college!
Folders: Each person will be responsible for keeping up with his/her assignments and making
sure they have them on assessment days. Folders should be left in the class so that all groups
members have access to the work. Not having the work is not an excuse.
Absences & Make-Up Policy
Remember that 0s do not average well. All work missed due to an absence must be made
up. The responsibility for arranging to complete make-up work is to be assumed by the
student in conjunction with the teacher.
Any previously assigned work that is due during your absence is due the day you return.
School trips, etc. are not considered absences; therefore, no make-up days will be allowed
for missed assignments. Assignments will be due the day you return.
If a student is present on the day of a previously announced quiz or test, he/she is
expected to take the assessment.
If a student is absent on the day of a traditional quiz, a make-up quiz will not be given that quiz grade will be replaced by the next test/project grade.
If a student is absent on a test day the student is expected to make up the test before or
after school within five school days. The make-up test may NOT be the same test given in
class. Students that fail to make up tests in the allotted time will receive a zero.
Extra Help: My availability will be posted in my classroom. I encourage all students to take
advantage of tutoring and get extra help when needed.
Calculators: Students are encouraged (but not required) to have a graphing calculator (TI-83 or
TI-84 preferred) and/or a TI-30XS scientific claculator. Students will be able to use an assigned
calculator for classroom use only. Students are only to use the calculator that is assigned
to them and are responsible for their assigned calculator. If the calculator is lost or
damaged in any way, the student is responsible for the replacement cost. Students are not
allowed to take calculators out of the room for any reason. I suggest students maintain vigorous
control over the calculator that they are assigned.

Communication: I like to have an open communication with all my students/parents. There are
numerous ways to keep in touch with everyone.
