ESL INSTRUCTION

This website has a lot of everything! It consists of 50 links for ELLs and teachers of
ELLs. The links consist of websites for educators to find printables and resources, articles
and advice, organizations to join, learning resources for students, teaching resources,
references, and lastly, communities and blogs to join. This site would be a useful place to
start when needing any type of information since it has such a wide variety of resources.
2. English 4 Kids

This site has animated video lessons, worksheets, interactive games, tutorials,
PowerPoints, and flashcards for teachers to use. I would use this site as a supplement to
my lesson plans, specifically the video lessons and interactive games as a way of
integrating technology.
3. ESL Lounge

This site is truly everything ESL. It has board games, quizzes, pronunciation material,
blog on aspects of ESL teaching, and even song lyrics. You can also buy the premium
version and get full lesson plans. This site is mainly for teachers to supplement lessons or
create lessons, but it does have a student section for learning and games. I would
probably join the premium to get access to all the lesson plans for ideas.

4. ESLPoint

This is a unique website that has free materials and practice for teachers and students to
utilize in the areas of speaking, listening, grammar, pronunciation, idioms, and more. I
really like that each category has levels based on English proficiency, such as low
beginning, high beginning, low intermediate, etc. I would use this as a differentiation tool
in class. All students could work on it at their own level.
5. Aardvark's English Forum

This is another website for students and teachers. There is a fantastic student section
where they can get web links to full texts of popular novels, and the teacher's section
where you can share with other professionals. I would use this to interact with other
teachers and for my students to have access to English novels.
6. English Grammar

This site is a wealth of information when it is time for your ELLs to learn grammar, from
adjective to conjunctions. They have lessons, grammar rules, videos, and online
exercises. I would use this site to supplement writing workshop for those at the
intermediate to advanced level.
7. Busy Teacher

This website has a database of 15,742 worksheets to choose from for teachers and their
ESL learners. It also has a large section of the latest ESL articles. Very informative! This

would definitely be my first place to go for worksheets and articles too. Nice layout.
8. Annenberg Learner

This is a resource for teachers that includes foreign language as well as other subjects. It
has video series, lesson plans, and interactives for teachers to use. I would use this for the
interactives.
9. ESL Gold

This is a website that provides resources for students and teachers and is organized by
skill level. I would use this as a technology supplement to my lessons. There are a lot of
great videos for vocabulary development.
10. Vocabulix

Obviously this site is all about learning vocabulary. There are interactive quizzes for the
students and a place where teachers can create their own lessons using specific
vocabulary words. I would use this to help my students with spelling during the editing
process. There aren't any visuals so I wouldn't use it for novel words.
11. One Stop English

This is another great website for ESL teachers. They have resources listed by category.
Some examples of categories are methodology, skills, and vocabulary. They also have a
specific area for children and teenagers. They even have assessments. I would probably
use this if I were teaching teenagers. I like how they have a great selection for that age

group.
12. Everything ESL

This site is a great resource for teachers. Judie has lesson plans and teaching tips. I would
use this for the teaching tips. The first thing I saw when I logged on was info on BICS
versus CALP. It looks like the info is very up to date and even has a hot topics section.
13. Colorin Colorado

This website is another resource for teachers with a lot of information. It seems to have a
good professional development section. I would use this site for the professional
development section. They also have a section for special education and ELLs.
APPS AND TECHNOLOGY

This website has 10 of the best Apps for ESL teachers and a lot of other technology info.
I would use this website to research apps.
15. Appcrawlr

This is an amazing site for any apps you can think of for your class. I would use this site
to research ESL apps.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
16. TESOL - Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages

This is a site for ESL professionals that contains professional development programs,
publications, and advocacy efforts. I would use this for professional development and
continued education.
