NOTE** These classes need to be retaken before I can transfer to Elmhurst College.
I met with an advisor at the College and he suggested that it would take less time to
retake the classes I did poorly in, rather than try to take other classes to boost my
GPA. The courses listed above, and the semesters listed are what order I anticipate to
complete them in. The only exception is Spanish II. If I complete each of the classes
listed with an A, I may not have to worry about retaking Spanish II.
I am currently enrolled

______ 1. I earned a 22 or higher on the ACT (with writing)
__X__ 2. I am going to take the TAP (Test of Academic Proficiency)

this is as far as they had dates for when I looked at the available times )
What are you most concerned about with the TAP? I am nervous about the contents of the test.
Sometimes I get nervous while taking tests and I fly through the questions without reading them fully.

Part Four: Other Requirements
1. What other requirements must you meet to graduate from this college/university with your chosen degree?
(Testing, Projects, Observation hours, etc.)
Students Seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Approval are Required to Take: CSD 338, ECE 412,
ECE 413, ECE 414 and ECE 454 Student Teaching in Early Childhood Education Special Education (3.00
credits)
Student teaching for one semester

2. Student Teaching What did you learn about options for student teaching at your chosen college/university?
ECE 454 Student Teaching in Early Childhood Education Special Education (3.00 credits)

Part Five: Licensure

1. Which content test will you need to take?
Early Childhood Education (107) and Early Childhood Special Education (152) would be the tests I
need to take. That would help satisfy my major and my minor.

2. What did you learn about the edTPA?

I learned what edTPA was. It is a performance-based assessment process that is made
by other teachers and educators to see if new teachers are ready for the job. Before
this assignment, I had never heard of it. I learned that edTPA is not about a teaching theory,
but more so about teacher candidates showing what they can and will do on the
job.
3. How do you apply for licensure? (Be specific)
First, you must have a passing score on your TAP400 ( Test of Academic Proficiency ). You can also use

your ACT score if it was above a 22. Then you must have completed a content area test, in my case it
would be on Early Childhood Education (107) and Early Childhood Special Education (152). After you
complete these exams and a semester of student teaching, and because I will be completing this after
September 15, 2015, I will be required to complete the edTPA test as well. This test is replacing the APT
test that teachers were formerly given. After this, the ISBE will give you something called entitlement,
which means you will be qualified to be licensed.
