Weetabix Case Study

Question 1:
The key challenges for Weetabixs strategic planning process is in sourcing wheat
locally. There are 35% of the wheat Weetabix uses are sourced from domestic
supply. Not only that, the strategic planning process in maintaining the quality of
locally produced wheat is not really meeting up the international standards. In
addition, Weetabix faces its operational limitations caused by the high cost of
power and poor infrastructure which makes distribution very costly.
Subsequently, another key challenge for its strategic planning process is on the
product development. The cereal products have to maintain its quality in colour,
flavour and nutritional value so that Weetabix can meet the customers
requirement and satisfaction level. Apart from that, cereal packaging is also one
of the key factors in its strategic planning process. Under the difficult market
conditions, cereal packaging is a useful weapon in attracting new attention.
Cereal products is the primary consideration and secondary consideration will be
packaging.
