The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context. Name of Artifact: Birdman Thematic Unit Date: June, 17, 2015 Course: EDUC 255 Brief Description: This project is a thematic plan that would be for second graders, using the book My Dads a Birdman to explore some of the whimsical ideas of the book. And how Great Britain operates as a country. It will focus on giving the students a better understanding of Great Britain and then allow for discussion on what is happening in the story throughout the reading. Rationale: This unit of study was chosen to give the students a better idea of how different cultures work. While still keeping everything fun and entertaining. InTASC Standard 7 will be shown in that it will account for all of the different ways to teach the different students in their own specific ways. It will be an in depth lesson of Great Britain, and have several different ways to encourage the different students to get involved.
