Dear Parent/Guardian,

As part of the Year 11 VET small business course, students will be travelling into the city via train with their
Business teachers to attend the Old Melbourne Goal. There will be times where the students will be
unsupervised (e.g. lunch and afternoon).
Students will need to be at Berwick Station at 8.30am. Students should bring lunch or bring money to
purchase food and for a valid myki, approximately $5. Students will be dismissed from Berwick station at
3:00. Any student wishing to be dismissed from another station must bring a signed note from their
parent/guardian. Students are required to wear school uniform. The cost for the excursion is $20 ,
though this figure may change due to CRT costs and students must pay no later than Tuesday,
September the 1st at the Front Office.

I give permission for my son / daughter to attend the above excursion. I authorise the teacher in charge of the excursion to consent where it is
impracticable to communicate with me, to my child receiving such medical or surgical treatment as may be deemed necessary. I agree to indemnify the
College, College Council and/or DEECD of any expenses thus incurred that are not covered by insurance.
Should any act of misconduct on my childs part whilst on the excursion, give cause for concern, I further authorise the teacher in charge to arrange for
my childs immediate return to his/her home and agree to pay or indemnify the College, College Council and/or DE&T all additional expenses which may
result from this action.
Students leaving excursions prior to completion
Students must remain with the excursion until completion. Parents cannot grant permission for a student to leave an excursion prior to completion.
Students 18 years or over or students living independently cannot leave an excursion prior to completion. See below for exceptions.
Exceptions:
Bus Transport: At the end of the school day a student, with written parent permission, can be dropped off on the way back if the drop off point is within
reasonable walking distances of the students home, but only if it is convenient for the bus driver and will not impact on the bus ability to return to school
at the designated time.
Train Transport: At the end of the school day a student, with written parent permission, can depart the train at a non-designated station if this station is
within reasonable walking distances of the students home.
