W. A. MOZART
EDIZIONI CURCI - MILANOPREFAZIONE.
tum” vanno considerate come semplici siggerimenti dell’esecutore.

PREFACE
Cadenzas composed by Mozart for some of his Piano Concerti are know to us, A quick sur
vey is sullicient in order to recognize a “system” adopted in their composition: the limited
length. and the almost total absence of modulations to foreign keys. In any ease. where
a modulation exists, it is of a very short duration. Not all the themes are always present,
as. for example, in the cadenza for the first movement of the Piano Concerto in A Major
K. 488, the first theme does not appear
Unfortumately. original cadenzas for the Violin Concerti K. 207, 211, 216, 218, 219 (those
certainly: composed by Mozart) are unknown. But an admirable example can be found in
the cadenzas for the Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viole
For the present collection, T have tried to conform to the Mozartian stele.
A few clemnets of virtuosity exist, bul these are always limited to the practice and the instru-
menial possibilities of the time.
A few additions wil also be found. such as a “fll in” at the conclusion of some sequences,
or when the distance of a interval seems to require it (especially in the Beflat Major Concerto
K. 207}. These additions, as well as the “lead ins” and the “ud Hbitum fermatas” must
be considered simply as
suggestions to performer
