Introduction
Successful in life not only can be measured by academic achievement and career only.
Level of health really difficult to maintain and it is become expensive nowadays. There are
many supplement was introduce in order to help people have a healthy life. However, people
always neglected their responsible to get a healthy and proper meal, balance time between
work/study and leisure time and stress management. Since many cases about students get over
stressed during study that brings to death and absenteeism among students due to sick as
reason, we from Science Education Society (SES) designed a course named as Fit to Learn,
a program which will provide info and knowledge how to have healthy life style among
students.
Since we are from science society, this is the first programme that not directly related
to science field such as chemistry, biology or physics. However, we still insert some science
value in this programme. As a starting point, we focus on for students who took science
stream at school as our participant. Students keep saying that science is a difficult subject
compared to others subject they took in the school. They need to stay up for studying, study
all the time to memorise the formula, concept and term. Some of them refuse to have some
time for recreation and leisure time with family and friends. They too much focus on study in
order to get the best result. Even though they still at school level, they already get stress and
pressure. It is not a good sign since our philosophy of education want produce individuals in a
holistic and integrated manner that are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically
balanced and harmonious, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. It is mean that not
only academic become priority but physical spiritual and emotion should concern.
Besides, students commonly take unhealthy meal such as fast food as their meal.
There are many cases that teenage that get chronic illnesses such as obesity, diabetic and high
blood pressure. They also did not care about changes happen about their body. This will
disturb learning process if they need to absent for class in order to get treatment. The best way
is to overcome the problem before it happen.
Thus, we are SES UiTM proudly to conduct this program to give exposure about
important of healthy lifestyle among students. This one day programme full with tips will be
held at Faculty of Education UiTM Shah Alam, Campus Section 17. This programme will be
attended by 40 students from science stream among form 5. We are target students who will
have an examination for this year. So, they prepared for their examination in a good way. This

programme not only involves students from education as part of our facilitator. This program
but we also get help students from dentistry and nursing. Dentistry students will give some
advice and treatment or check up during that day. Nursing students will provide service such
as blood test to know their blood type and sugar contain in blood. These activities will
become of the slot that we will prepare in this program. We also invite speaker from physical
educational advisor to give talks about how to learn in healthy way without neglect
responsible as students. Some activity such as recreation also will be in the slot in order to
attract students interest.

2.0 Rationale
The Fit to Learn program is actually introduced to help students to improve their healthy
lifestyle. As we can see, there are a lot of students that have healthy problem and they did not
concern and take it easy about their healthy. For this program, we are targeting science
students because we know that science students faced much stress other than other students.
We also choose form 5 students because their exam is just around the corner and we decide to
help them to reduce their stress and improve their healthy. In this program also is design to
highlight the students about the importance of healthy lifestyle because it will affect their
learning environment. Therefore, the objective of this program is to cultivate healthy lifestyle
among the students.
Besides that, this program also to enhance the knowledge of the students about the important
of health since the students did not motivate to increase their awareness about healthy.
Students are not exposed about the effect of not having healthy style in their learning
environment. Thus, this program is design to encourage the students to learn in healthy style.
We are looking forward to help students to encourage them to have healthy lifestyle which in
the future we will produce effective person in real life situation that more challenging and
stressful. Besides that, we hope that the students not just excel in academics but motivated to
apply healthy style in their routine after joining this program.

3.0
The curriculum
3.1 Need Analysis
Before we conduct Fit to Learn program, we do the analysis of needs among the school
students. In this program, we emphasize on current issues which are stress and also unhealthy
lifestyle among people nowadays. Not only adult but young generations also not care about
their lifestyle especially school students. Stress and unhealthy lifestyle become one of the
serious issues occur among school students. Hence, by introducing this program we can help
them to overcome the issues. Therefore, we carried out an analysis of needs by using prequestionnaire that only consist of six questions. The analysis of needs is an important part
before proceed to the program in order to identify the main problem.
We distribute the pre-questionnaire around Shah Alam, which our main target group is
secondary school student. We distribute the questionnaire to school student and choose
randomly student to answer that question. The type of questions is very general regarding
their lifestyle on daily routines. The questionnaire is consists of two optional answer either
YES or NO. The table below show the table of question with the percentage of students
answered the questions.

As show in the table above, the questions were asked related to their daily routines so it is
easy for them to answer. Based on the data collected, we found that for Item 1 about 75% of
students were not doing the exercise regularly. Some of the students might not know the
effect of not doing the exercise. Nevertheless, they are still aware that exercise is an important
part in our life. From Table Item 2, about 65% of the students were believed that exercise
important to them. Therefore, they actually know that exercise is good for their healthy but
they seem neglect and not concern to their health. Besides that, as we can see from the table
above (Item 3), most of the students feel stress during their study and they do not know how
to manage stress especially those students who will be sit for SPM examination. One of way
to control stress is by doing an exercise. Because of most of students are not regularly doing
exercise, so this maybe influence their stress during study. In addition, exercise will keep
student calm during studies indirectly will help student to perform better in exams. The Item 4
and Item 5 also found that 85% of students are not taking proper meal and 75% of them are
not regular doing a health check up. Thus, our program Fit to Learn can be conducted as the
need of analysis was done.

3.2 Philosophy
Science Education Society (SES) always cares about science students not only in term of
academic achievement. Previous we already provide science camp, motivational talks and
many more activity that would help students to learn science in correct way and enjoy. Now,
we take a big step which we want to expose students toward healthy lifestyle which become
one of the criteria in our education philosophy which is balance in physical and emotions.
Consistent with our society objective which want to realize our National Education
Philosophy to produce individual who balanced intellect, spirit, physical and emotion we
always provide many alternative and activity for science students.
3.3 Vision and Mission
3.3.1 Vision
To encourage students to know their health level and provide knowledge about learn in
healthy way which indirectly give positive impact in learning process especially for students
who will take an examination in this year.
3.3.2 Mission
Helping students to encourage them have healthy life which in future will produce effective
person in real life situation that more challenging and stressful.
3.4 Objectives
To cultivate healthy lifestyle among students.
To increase knowledge of the students about the importance of health.
To encourage the students to learnt in healthy style.
3.5 Learning Outcomes
At the end of this program, students should be able to:
Apply healthy lifestyle in their daily activities after done the activities in slot 1 and
slot 4.
List 5 ways to handle stress.
Compare between healthy and unhealthy foods.
State their level of health after slot 3 was done.

3.6
Contents
The program has four slots which consist of morning exercise, motivational talks, health
check-up and recreational activities. Each of the slots is related to the purpose of this program.
SLOT 1: Move to Fit
This slot will contribute by all the participants and facilitates by the physical educations
students. In this slot, the participants will involve two activities that will warm up and
enhance their focus during the next program. The slot enables the participants to get to know
with each other besides can make them apply this activity in their daily lives. The slots will
takes about 2 hours at the sports ground.
SLOT 2: Motivation Talks Learn With Health Way
This slot is about the motivation talk with the tittle is Learn with Healthy way. This slot is
stress about two things which are how to manage stress while studying and apply a balanced
diet. The speaker of this talk is Tn Haji Zaharul Azwan Bin Abdul Razak which is physical
educational adviser. He will explain how to study with healthy way in term of how to manage
stress and to apply balance diet. The speaker will facilitate the students with the help from the
committee members. This slot will start at 10.00 am until 12.00 pm and the talk will held at
the seminar room.
SLOT 3: Know Your Body
This slot is for students to examine healthy checks and will be held at Beringin Hall at Faculty
of Education. In this slot, each student is providing with a health form and they need to
complete the form from section 1 until 6. There are consist of six section of healthy booth
such as measure weight and height, eye test, blood pressure test, blood testing, sugar level test
and also dental check-up. Besides that, we collaborate with nursing students from UITM
Puncak Alam whereas dentistry student from UITM Shah Alam for dental check-up. In
addition, once students complete their form, the facilitators will stick a coupon to their form.
This coupon will represent as students are successfully complete all the section from Section
until Section 6.

Methodology
Each slot was designed to meet the objective of this programme. Below is the method used
and explanations of each slot in this the program:
1. Move to Fit
This kind of slot need facilitates by expert coach to conduct the activities which are zumba
and aerobics. Therefore, we decide to ask physical education students in our faculty to involve
these events. We need 7 facilitators from the physical education students to handle this slot.
We divide 7 facilitators into 2 groups which are group 1 has 5 facilitators for zumba and
aerobics activity. While the second group of facilitators which are consist of two facilitators
are in charge in safety section. Firstly, we will do the aerobics activity to gain and increase the
spirits of the participants in this event. The facilitators need to show the movement on the
stage in order for participants easy to follow the steps. We called it as warm up activity. After
that, we proceed with the second activity which is zumba that need facilitators to handle it and
the method just same as aerobics which need the facilitators on the stages to show the
movement and the participants will follow the movements of the facilitators smoothly. These
activities will be held at sports ground of faculty of education.

The second game is musical chair. Students will move around the chair that had been place in
round following a music that will be played. When the music stops they need to get a chair for
sit. If they cannot get sit, they will be eliminated. The last person get seat will be the winner.

Third game is beach bowling. This game is using coconut a bowling and mineral bottle as the
pins. Since coconut has uneven round structure, it will not move straight to the mineral water.
Team who get higher mineral bottle fall will be the winner. Lastly is tug war. Two groups will
pull the rope until they can pull other group get over the middle line. All games need
participant to support each other. Indirectly sports can form a great bonding among
participant.
3.8
Evaluation
The evaluation is one of the most important parts to measure the achievement of the program.
There are three main of objectives that should be achieved at the end of this program. In this
program, we design four different slots that based on the main objectives in our program. For
each slot we evaluate by using different type of evaluation. Firstly, for Slot 1, we design two
outdoor activities which are aerobics and zumba to cultivate healthy lifestyle among student.
So, from the demonstration by facilitators, we can evaluate student by observe students
ability apply healthy lifestyle. There are specific facilitators that in charged to observe
students participation in this activities. Checklist is use to evaluate the students performance
in this slot.
Secondly, Slot 2 is about motivational talk. The goal for this slot is to increase the knowledge
about importance of health. The main topic for this slot is about how to handle stress in study
and apply the balancing diet among student. At the end of this slot, the facilitator will pick
randomly about two or three student to interview regarding the issues. Therefore, from the
feedback of the student we can evaluate whether the objective is achieve or not. The students
at least are able to list five ways to handle stress during study. Other than that, they gain
knowledge to compare between healthy and unhealthy foods.
Thirdly, Slot 3 is about health checkup. For this slot, we specially design for student to know
their health level. At the beginning of this slot, student will be provided a form and they need
to complete it. They can get the coupon if they completely filled the form. Through the form,
we can evaluate their knowledge regarding on importance of health. When they know their
health level, from that it will increase their awareness about the importance of health.
Telematches are design for the last slot for this program. In this slot, student can apply healthy
lifestyle in their daily routines. We provide games for this slot to achieve the objective of this
program which is to cultivate student to have a healthy lifestyle. The facilitator will observe a

student participation during the activities either they involve actively or not. Student that
actively involved in the activity shows their understanding of the significant of having a
healthy lifestyle. So, they can apply it in their daily routine. Indirectly, this slot can build
bonding among student.

4.2 Venue
We choose our campus Faculty of Education as a venue for program because the place is
more comfortable and just like school environment that suitable for us to held Fit to Learn
program. It is located at Section 17, Shah Alam. Besides that, schools that involved in this
program are located near to our campus so that they can easy to find our campus. Other than
that, we conduct for each slot at different places such as Intec field, seminar room and also
Beringin Hall.

5.0 Conclusion
Healthy lifestyle can influences individual performance. Students also not exclude to have a
healthy lifestyle. In order to perform better in their study, they need to know how to manage
daily activities. They should able to handle their stress, get a balance diet and aware about
their healthy. Therefore, this program is design to overcome this problem. We provide some
slot to fulfil the aims of this program. Participation of the student is really important because
they can apply in their daily routines especially for student who will sit the examination. This
program is specially design for science student since science student always faced with
stressful learning environment. Hence, our program will guide and provide useful information
about importance of health. We hope that our program is one of the steps to achieve our
national education philosophy to produce individuals in a holistic and integrated manner that
are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced and harmonious, based on a
firm belief in and devotion to God.
