The NSTP was established by virtue

of R.A. 9163 otherwise known as the

NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING
PROGRAM ACT OF 2001

A. Reserve Officers Training Corps

(ROTC)
B. Civic Welfare Training Service
(CWTS)
C. Literacy Training Service (LTS)

Refers to the program component

designed to provide military training
in order to motivate , train, organize,
and mobilize students for national
defense preparedness

Refers to the program component or

activities contributory to the general
welfare and betterment of life for the
members of the community or the
enhancement of its facilities,
especially those devoted to improving
health, education, environment,
entrepreneurship, safety, reaction
and moral of the citizenry

Refers to the program component

designed to train students to teach
literacy and numeracy skills to school
children, out-of-school youth and
other segments of society in need of
their service

NSRC is created under Section 11 of

RA 9163 or the NSTP Act of 2001,
composed of graduates of the NonROTC

Founded in August 25, 1924 as

Maasin Institute by the Rev. Angel C.
Espina and considered one of the
pioneering private schools in the
province of Southern Leyte

The School started to offer collegiate

programs in Teacher Education and
Liberal Arts after WWII

In 1963 , Maasin Institute was

renamed
The College of Maasin

In 2004, the college started to offer

Bachelor of Science in Nursing and
the Diploma in Midwifery on June
2008 to provide the province of
Southern Leyte and other parts of the
globe health workers imbued with
Christian values
