WTE #9
The following job posting is for a Network Analyst position at High Point University.
The University is a large organization with many different departments that have
varying requirements. However among the IT department it is clear that nearly all
positions require a bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field.
High Point University is rated as one of the top schools in the South East. It
has routinely held on to this title for the last several years. As such the students
that attend the University expect the best infrastructure to support their
educational needs.
It appears that this employer is looking for candidates that possess not only
technical skills but also interpersonal and social skills needed to interact inside a
large organization. Candidates need to have a bachelors degree or many years of
experience. I am currently nearing the completion of my degree in Computer
Science and I have nearly a decade of experience in the US Army with many of the
technologies this position require. These qualities would make me a good candidate
to apply for this position. One area in which I would differ from what the job requires
is in its up time requirements. Due to the supply and logistical problems faced in the
Army, our up time was significantly lower than the 99.99% up time requirement
High Point requires. Because of this I may not know the procedures that the civilian
market uses to maintain those high uptime numbers.
