B. Performance Evaluation/Grading
1. Professionalism 30% of grade w/o research project; 25% of grade w/ research project
Total Points for this category: 50/50
10/10: Demonstrates ability to work independently
10/10: Consistently responds to emails/voicemails from SORCE staff in appropriate time period
(within 24 hours)
10/10: Makes and keeps thoughtful and reasonable commitments (ie. Arrives on-time for scheduled

10/10: Follows intern dress code according to guidelines and represents SORCE in a good light
10/10: Models ethical behavior (i.e., appropriately utilizes SORCE resources such as computers,

Comments (please provide an example of one area of strength and one area that needs further focus for
the above section):
Taj always acted and dressed professionally and represented SORCE well. He always showed up on time
(and often early) and was willing to stay late when needed. Was very responsive to emails within
appropriate time period.
I struggle to come up with a suggestion for improvement in this category, or many of the following
categories.
2. Quality of Work - 30% of grade w/o research project; 25% of grade w/ research project

10/10:
10/10:

Takes direction and improves upon performance

Completes work accurately as trained
Clarifies with supervisor if assignment tasks or goals are unclear
Keeps work organized & possesses good attention to detail
Applies critical thinking and uses available resources to achieve optimal results

Comments (please provide an example of one area of strength and one area that needs further focus for
the above section):
Taj was very good at communicating any questions about assignments. He kept detailed notes about his
progress on tasks, which he regularly summarized by email to me at the end of his shift. Also, he was very
thoughtful in the way he did his work without direction he would work ahead on tasks he knew Id need
help with (ex. Friday social media reports), and would turn work in to me in a format that was easy to
follow. When he had a question, he would always try to figure it out himself, before coming for help.
3. Quantity of Work - 20% of grade w/o research project; 15% of grade w/ research project
Total Points for this category: 20/20
10/10: Completes designated tasks in a timely manner
10/10: Appropriately utilizes scheduled time to complete tasks
Comments (please provide an example of one area of strength and one area that needs further focus for
the above section):
Taj always exceeded my expectations regarding the amount of time it took to complete tasks. He often
came to me looking for more work when he completed a project ahead of schedule (and still maintained a
high level of quality).

project
Total Points for this category: 50/50

concerns
10/10: Works cooperatively and demonstrates ability to work as a member of a team
10/10: Open to constructive feedback and shows flexibility toward new approaches and ideas
Comments (please provide an example of one area of strength and one area that needs further focus for
the above section):
Not only was Taj very professional, he also had a nice sense of humor that made him a pleasure to work
with. He was always eager to help no matter how big or small (or potentially boring) a task may be.

Comments (please provide an example of one area of strength and one area that needs further focus for
the above section):
Tajs research project was well-researched, and expertly presented. I received many positive comments
from colleagues who saw his presentation. The only area I noticed that needed improvement were some
small discrepancies in following the citation requirements as provided in the intern guideline.
