RAFT Task Card: Math


Objective:
You will utilize graphs and charts to identify the popularity of two items.
Student Role:
A fashion designer for a kids clothing line.
Audience:
Your peers and fashionistas
Format:
A power point slide show
Topic:
What is more popular in your class, jeans or sweats?

Directions:
1. Visit http://www.kidzworld.com/quiz/2738-quiz-whats-your-school-style to take the
fashion quiz. Take notes.
2. Take a visual poll of what your peers are wearing (jeans and sweats) and create a chart
that displays the number of jeans and sweat pants present. Take notes.
3. Use the Internet to find examples of what types of clothing items your peers are wearing
as well as examples from the results of your quiz.
4. Use the data you collected from your quiz and your visual poll to create data for your
pictograph
5. Create a Pictograph presentation that details both, your pictograph and your bar graph as
well as the pictures you found on the Internet. The pictograph should identify the results
and answer which item is most popular.
6. Present your pictograph to the entire class utilizing a computer and projector. Make sure
to narrate the presentation with the notes you created during your quiz and visual poll.

Objective:
You will be able to create and utilize bar graphs when given a set of data

Now that you have discovered the next fashion trend you must sell your inventory.
Directions:
1. Visit http://bizkids.com/clip/profile-kennys-lobster-roaches to learn
about starting your own business.
2. Watch this video demonstration on bar graphs

3. Create a name for your business and select a product to sale (Jeans or Sweats).
4. Create inventory (the amount of product you have for sale) for your company.
5. Now find companies or stores that you wish to sell your inventory to.
6. Once you have all of this information go to http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/graphing and
input your information. Once you have all of your information input create your bar
graph.
7. Utilize a classroom tablet and projection system and present your bar graph and business
plan.

3. Use data from previous assignments (pictograph and bar graph) to create pie charts.
4. Once you have gathered your data create interactive pie charts within a PowerPoint
presentation.
5. Create a Voki at Voki.com. Build a suitable avatar for this project.

6. Read and record your script as the Vokis voice.


7. Link your Voki to your to PowerPoint to assist in narration.
8. Present your project to the classroom
