TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Physical Education Teacher, Bess Streeter Aldrich Elementary School,
Omaha, Nebraska, 2013- Present
Teach physical education to all students in grades K-5 using Millard Public School Curriculum
Implement International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program into all classes. Modified program
to successfully teach all physical education classes from concept based approach.
Developed a fitness program to improve individual physical fitness scores to include a warm-up
and practice routine focusing on individual areas of need. Fitness scores have improved during
first year of the program.
Worked with school administration and other specialists to increase instructional time for physical
education class from 50 minutes a week to 70 minutes a week.
Presented several lessons and district level and have recently been chosen to assist with
curriculum revision process.
Lead daily Walking Club for approximately 90-120 students each morning. Over 180 students
participate on a regular basis.
Serve as Olympic Day coordinator. This is an all school event containing 20 stations aligned with
20 separate countries. Oversee a committee of four and over 100 volunteers. Responsible for
designing activities for each country, securing supplies, coordinating help, preparing students for
the opening and closing ceremonies, and communicate all responsibilities to school staff.
Instructed students in grades K-6 using new Fairfax County Physical Education Program of Studies
Differentiated instruction within full inclusion setting and adapted lessons to meet the needs of all
learners to include Advanced Academics and special needs students
Developed full year, unit, and daily lesson plans containing motor learning, cognitive, and affective
objectives for grades K-6
Introduced fitness based warm-up to ensure daily practice of all Virginia Wellness related fitness
components. Fitness scores improved each year under the current program.
Implemented use of the Presidents Challenge fitness program which includes the National and
Presidential fitness awards. Helped over 400 students earn National and Presidential Awards over a
five-year period.
Administered assessments of student learning to include skill rubrics, written examinations, visual
assessments, running records and video analysis
Organized cooperative games and activities for first ever 3rd Grade Challenge Quest to improve
cooperative skills among student from general and advanced academic classrooms
Taught after school classes on team sports, Sports Performance, Kinect to Fitness, and Sport and
Game Creation
Organized Help the Homeless Walkathon for three years and raised over $40,000 for the Northern
Virginia Family Service
Expanded school dance performance to include kindergarten through third grade
Worked with administration to increase physical education instruction time for kindergarten students
from 30 minutes per 10 days to 90 minutes per 10 days
Served on School Improvement Plan committee with an emphasis on character education
Performed pilot for Microsoft Corporation using Xbox 360 Kinect in physical education classroom
and provided feedback regarding implementation into learning environment and learning outcomes

Provides individual exercise assessments to clients via personal fitness training services
Mentors new instructors on exercise techniques, group management, and exercise prescription

Coordinates wellness activities to include health and fitness promotions, exercise instruction, and
seasonal flu shots
Helped Wolftrap achieve the Golden Wellness Award in 2010, 2011, and 2012. The Golden
Wellness Award is the highest-level achievement award for outstanding wellness in a school
setting.

Coordinates Safety Patrol team of 40 -50 fifth and sixth grade students responsible for bus and
walker safety
Conducts Safety Patrol training course for patrols teaching them proper bus evacuations and safety
protocols.
Schedules and administers monthly patrol and grade level safety meetings with school safety
officer
Responds to patrol reports and works with bus drivers to prevent accidents and address safety
concerns

Hosted Climbing Wall Safety Workshop 3-4 times per year for FCPS teachers

Prepared and managed budget, scheduled classes, recruited teachers, organized payroll procedures,

Expanded program to include 8 classes, 105 participants, and 9 instructors
Received Distinguished Service Award from the Safe Community Coalition for providing positive
afterschool activities for at-risk youth
