INTRODUCTION

Background
Earthquake is a sudden vibration which release energy in earth crust and its moment along a
fault plane or by volcanic activities which result in the generation of seismic waves that can
be destructive. They are usually followed by aftershock. Recently Nepal is highly being
affected by earthquake and aftershock. Baisakh 12, 7.9 rector earthquake have went which
had highly affected many places of Nepal. Recent earthquake has made more than 600,000
people homeless and many more people are suffering from psychological stress due to
damage of their houses and buildings. Due to this region we have made proposal for low cost
housing.
Low Cost Housing is a new concept which deals with effective budgeting and following of
techniques which help in reducing the cost construction through the use of locally available
materials along with improved skills and technology. It is done by proper management of
resources. Due to the extreme climate shifts and apprehensive statistical conjecture, people
began to think seriously and to build a earthquake resistance house.
Aims and objectives
The main objectives of this project are
To provide the shelter to local people who have been affected by this massive earthquake.
To provide a living space who is living in difficult circumstance
To understand their psychology and built them a house.
To reduce cost of construction by using locally available material.
Scope and limitations
Thousands of people are forced to live in tent due to loss of there shelther.
Methodology
To reduce material cost 65-75 % by using locally available material
Labour cost: 65-75%
For this

Reducing plinth area cost using thinner wall

Using locally available material
Preplanning the design

Concept

creating optimal space in design by considering minimal space and efficiency space
In this design economy is consider for building layout and its cluster.
Orientation, building form, openings & materials has played a vital role in design
including landscaping and outdoor environment.
Eco friendly home design has been done.
Had played with natures tranquillity.
Saving rain water by creating gutters which can be used in gardening and washing

Conclusion
Our initiative will be an inspiration for others.
