Course Standards:
Standard 4: Students can explain the processes of job pay, paychecks, benefits, and taxes.
Standard 5: Students identify the knowledge and resources needed to finance and insure a
vehicle.
Standard 6: Students describe each form of business ownership and the advantages and
disadvantages of each.

Activities
Activities will surround the following topics: Which Federal Agency protects you? How do you know you will
get a good deal? What are your rights and responsibilities? What are your views on Global Warming and
environmental protection? Creating a deceptive ad.
Activities will surround the following topics: What is the difference between needs and wants? Financial
Planning and balance sheets, Knowing your net worth. Writing a budgeting article from research.
Activities will surround web quest on credit reports and credit agencies, identifying the best credit card deal
for you, responsible credit use, and a public service announcement warning consumers about over using
credit.
Activities will surround understanding your payroll deductions and how these deductions apply to taxes. W-4
and W-2s will be explored
Activities will surround different types of auto insurance available, shopping for a vehicle and vehicle
financing.
Final project involves writing a business plan for a new business idea
Public Service Announcement, Deceptive Ad, Business Plan

Opportunity for extra time in and outside of class for intervention daily during
Intervention/Enrichment hour. Homework will be given weekly which will
involve watching a 10-15 minutes lecture video students may access on their
electronic device or in a computer lab in the school (library, etc.) during
intervention/enrichment hour.

CLASS PROCEDURES
If you are not in the room when the bell rings, you
will be swept by administration. If you are tardy but
have a pass, turn it in on my desk and sit down. It is not
necessary to make a scene if you are tardy.
