WV Standards for PE
_x_ Movement Forms
_x_ Motor Skills
_x_ Physical Activity
_x_ Physical Fitness
_x_ Personal & Social Behavior

Cognitive: Students will learn about each position and how it is played.
Affective: Students will practice and engage in an application task with their teammates
H-R Fitness: Students will engage in an active fitness warm up. Students will remain
active for more than half of the class

Safety Considerations:
Students will be aware of any hazards in the area.
We will remove any possible hazards from the
activity area. Students will always use safe spacing
when engaging in activity so that they dont collide
with one another. There will be absolutely no reason
for unnecessary roughness and the students will be
warned about this.

Behavioral Contingencies:
If a student misbehaves, he will receive a warning for
the first time. If it occurs again, the student will be
asked to sit out for the remainder of the class.

stick with that player
everywhere they go

different forms

designed for the
players to stay in their
designated area of the
zone, and to guard the
opposing players who
enter it

Fitness/Coaches
meeting

11:1011:15

The teams will be

separated as they
each do their fitness
warm ups together.
They will have their
own space or home
field that they can do
this on.
The coaches will meet
with the instructors in
front of the bleachers,
before returning to
their teams to conduct
practice

After our intro, we will

then allow the students
to go warm up with
their teams. The
fitness trainers for the
day will receive a
sheet of fitness warm
ups/stretches. The
fitness trainer will be
responsible for
conducting these and
getting their teams fit.
The coaches for the
day will have a
meeting with us. We
will give them a sheet

and explain each

portion of the sheet.
There will be different
kinds of drills for the
specific lesson listed
on the sheet. It is the
coachs job to
understand and run
these drills with their
team, in order to
prepare them for the
application task at the
end of class. After the
meeting is finished,
coaches will return to
their teams and
conduct practice.
Practice

Throwing and catching

11:1511:30

Students will be with

their teams in their
designated practice
area (home field)

The class will do their

usually warm-ups and
will be ready to begin
the drills that I have
listed on the sheet.
Drill 1: The students
will throw 10 passes to
each other 20 yards
apart to warm up. The
students will make sure
to stay within their
own practice zone.
Drill 2: The students
will practice 10 hand
offs with coverage.
(flags)
Drill 3: The students
will practice 10
passing plays with
coverage. (flags)

between quarterback
and receiver.
Drill 4: The team will
split into two different
pairs. The layout will
be the same as before
with the quarterback
throwing to the
receiver. In the drill the
quarterback will have
to throw the ball. The
quarterback will have
to throw a deep pass.
Their will be two
defenders, but neither
will be able to blitz the
quarterback. The
quarterback cannot
run. Each defender will
have a zone to cover
that will be marked by
poly spots or round
cones. One defender
(deep safety) will stand
near the end zone. This
player will only be able
to move from the
middle court to the end
zone and the other
defender will be able to
move anywhere from
the line of scrimmage
to half field. This area
will also be marked
with cones. This drill is
called zone ball. If a
team does not have
enough players they
will have to play with
one safety and have
only one zone.

their players in each
group. Each group will
have a designated play

application task

I will go up to each

practicing and will
ask them who they
will to pair with in
their group. I will
make sure to write
down all of the pairs
and break down
where and who they
will compete against
before I tell everyone
to bring it in and get
started.
The application task
will be a 2 vs 2 game
with flags. Each pair
will compete against
2 of the other pairs
from different groups
in a certain area.
