Many individuals, without a comedic background, bring forth their
messages clearly and with confidence because theyre easily accepted. Humorists, on the other hand, have messages that are too dangerous to bring out or are easily overlooked. While others believe that humorists do not serve a purpose in society because theyre only seen as entertainers, in reality, these individuals, according to de Botton, have a huge responsibility to all nations because they convey subliminal messages that society is blind to. Although many believe that no message is too dangerous because they believe in the idea of freedom of speech, in reality, humorists experience many dangerous situations, even including death, because of the things they say or show to society. Charlie Hebdo was recently killed because of his humorous cartoons. He was killed over the cartoon that mocked the Middle East. He knew te things he drew carried heavy opinions that could get him killed. He ended up dead for exposing things he was against. Along with the dangers of death, Sony recently release the Interview, a movie that has put many adversities on their corporation. Within their comedy, they exposed corruption in North Korea. The plot of the movie was about a popular talk show that scored an interview with North Koreas dictator. Sony faced many dangers at the release of the trailer. Kim Jung Un did not find this movie entertaining or humorous, and hacked Sonys network. North Korea threatened to release all their information is Sony released the movie. Thus again proving that as humor tries to convey their messages, they can received all sorts of danger. While many believe these individuals just waste time entertaining, in reality, humorists reveal many corruptions in society because they make it easier for society to accept, despite dangers they may face. David So, a youtube comedian along with Just Kidding News, talk about many topics society is not aware of. Of course there are a lot of jokes at the introduction of their discussion, but when they bring in personal experiences, opinions, facts and other sources. When they bring attention to corruption, they first make comedic in a way society can handle weight of problems when theyre unloaded onto them. Along with these youtube comedians, Jimmy Kimmel steps up to further prove my point that entertainers are not just entertainers and humorists. In his show, he does a segment where one of his employees interviews or surveys people on the street. On Martin Luther King Day, they asked questions about MLK.
