Aptitude Shortcuts methods and formulas that used in aptitude questions related to
Percentage were given below. Candidates those who are preparing for IBPS PO/Clerk,
SBI and all other competitive exams can use this.
A. What is Percentage:
Percent is a term having meaning for every hundred. Suppose, a man says that he
gains forty percent (40%) profit after selling a watch. It means his profit is Rs forty for
every hundred rupees.
In other words, a fraction with 100 as denominator is called a percentage. So, due to
this definition of the percentage, the meaning of 40 percent is

Percent = P.C. = %
e.g., 40 percent = 40%
B. To convert percentage into Fraction:
Process: (i) Given value/term is divided by 100.
(ii) Sign of percent (%) is eliminated/ removed.

C. To convert fraction into percentage:
Process: (i) Fraction is multiplied by 100.
(ii) Result (fraction 100) takes sign of percent (%) after it.

According to rule decimal will take place after two digits (5 and 2) from right
to left. Thus decimal value of 52% will be 0.25.
E. To Convert Decimal into Percentage:
Process: (i) Given value is multiple by 100.
(ii) Sign of percent (%) is added after that product.
Process in ruled form:
Value in percent = (value in Decimal

In above mathematical relation, there are three terms e.g. x, y and z. If
values of any two terms are known then we can obtain value of rest term, as
given below,
