UNIT 8 PROMOTING HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT, YOU ARE GOING TO PRODUCE A HEALTH PROMOTION


ACTIVITY THAT WILL TAKE NO MORE THAN 15 HOURS. YOU SHOULD AIM IT AT ONE OF
THE FOLLOWING TARGET GROUPS; PEOPLE WHO ARE ILL/ YOUNG CHILDREN/ OLDER
PEOPLE/ PEOPLE WITH SPECIFIC NEED.

PART A-Knowledge and understanding of your chosen topic


addressed by your promotion and a considered and appropriate
target group
1. Introduce your work by stating what health promotion means and that you will look
at your illness/problem. Explain how you plan to produce a health promotion activity
to raise awareness of it.
2. Explain what your issue is in detail by finding out the current facts/data about it
and writing a detailed overview.
3. Explain who your chosen target client group and what your chosen setting is, clearly
explaining your reasons for choosing them.
4. Explain what methods you intend to use to collect your information e.g. primary,
secondary, observation, interview etc.

PART B- The planning of your promotion including aims & objectives,


models chosen & methods to measure the success.
5. List and explain 3/4 aims and then 3/4 objectives you need to achieve during your
health promotion activity.
6. Produce a plan to show how you will create your health promotion. Include notes,
diagrams, all ideas (used or not) and anything else you have gathered that is
relevant.
7. Create and explain the media you have created to support your promotion.

8. Explain and define the following health promotion approaches and models medical,
behaviour change, educational, media, social change & empowerment.
9. Explain how/why you will/will not each model use for your promotion?
10. Explain how you will measure and evaluate if your promotion has been a success or
not. Create the methods e.g. questionnaires, surveys etc.

PART C- Implementation of your HP, use & development of media and


materials & an analysis of the success of your HP.
11. Carry out your plan by conducting your activity. Take photos of the process being
completed and the finished product. Attach and label into your work and add
anything else you gathered.
12. Survey peoples opinions of your health promotion material and collect primary
research. Discuss the results.
13. Analyse how successful your health promotion activity has been based on the data
you found and the objectives you were trying to achieve. You should aim to use 3 or
4 pieces of media or materials to support your analysis.
14. Identify how your activity related to the health promotion models.

PART D- Evaluation of the outcomes of your health promotion.


15. Evaluate your health promotion campaign and explain if you achieved what you hoped
you would.
16. Evaluate your 3/4 aims. Did you meet them? How?
17. Review 3 outcomes you have achieved from this promotion.
18. What conclusions can you make about how successful your promotion was based on
the evidence/data that you originally collected and peoples opinions of your
promotion activity?
