Program Goals
For the English component of the class, the goals are to see you
read, write, speak, view, listen and represent to:
- explore thoughts, feelings, ideas and experiences,
- comprehend and respond critically and personally to oral,
print and other media texts,
- manage ideas and information,
- create oral, print, visual and multimedia texts and enhance the
clarity and artistry of communication,
- respect, support and collaborate with others.
For the Drama component of the class, the goals are to
encourage you to:
- acquire a knowledge of self and others through participation in
and reflection upon dramatic experiences,
- develop competency in communication skills through
participation and exploration of various dramatic disciplines,
- appreciate drama and theatre as a process and an art form.
Bone Chiller
- A full production will require your dramatic skills in movement, speech and
acting.
- Adapting the novel for the stage and developing characters for theatre will

Poetry ( a selection)
- Poetry appreciation and creation will round your skills as a writer and
creative thinker.
- Creativity will be enhanced with focus on speech and movement.
Course Evaluation: You will receive a mark in English and Drama separately.

Expectations
Certain schedules will be used in class
to ensure we cover all of the material
thoroughly. The activities listed below
will be weekly/bi-weekly routines in our
class. All work completed at these
times can be used as formative and/or
summative assessment.
Make-it-up Monday: will be a
combination of Improv Workshops and
Personal Response Journal writing.
We-Read Wednesday: every other
Wednesday will present a new short
story, script, or non-fiction article,
which we will read, respond to and
evaluate.
reFlective Friday: journal about your
skills as an actor, your impressions as a
reader/writer, and the course in
general.
Regarding Drama
For your drama credits you
will be expected to complete
two final projects - one solo
and one group.
