Lesson Objectives and Purposes:
As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Build a real model of a 3D shape and net
- Describe a 3D shape by using correct terminology

Motivation and Introduction:

10 mins Complete Mental warm-up Times Tables songs, Clocks slides,

Unfold App.



Students to complete answers on their whiteboards.





Main Body:


10 mins Explain refresher activity where students need to connect the 3D

shape with its net. Model the first answer to students.


40 mins Give out 2 3D shape cards to each student.



***Provide stronger students more complex shapes and weaker

students less complex shapes***



Explain activity Students will create nets and shapes using

marshmallows and pasta. They will describe the shape by noting

amount of edges, vertices and faces also.



Model to students.



Explain that students are not to eat materials.



Students to create own nets. Students to check answers on app

Unfold if iPads are available from Junior Primary. If not, show

answers on SmartBoard when they ask.



Early finishes to choose another 3D shape card and carry out

activity further.
