If democracy is a goal of the L.A. nations, what does a nation have to have
in order to achieve this goal?

Latin America after Independence from Spain & Portugal

If a nation wants to become a democracy there is a lot of things that they
must have in order to achieve this. One thing they must have is a leader that
is willing to allow it to become a democracy. If a leader doesnt want the
nation to become a democratic state they will do anything in their power to
stop them. They will kill, kidnap, and suppress the people. Also, the leader
needs to realize that the country is probably better off being a democracy
because in this case the people will get along better. Also, the people in the
country have to want a democracy. They have to be willing to go through a
stage of hardship because they will have to get used to the new government.
In many cases they country must have money. It cost money for the country
to change because they have to hire a whole lot of new positions in the
government. Also they will have to build new buildings that the people will
work in. When a nation is switching it takes a lot of time and effort and they
have to be willing to put that in. Those are the things that I think a nation
must have if they want to achieve becoming a democracy.
