    assonanceaddstotheoverallforwardnessofthesonnet.Whenhespeaksoftheglowingofsuch
    fire,heistalkingaboutthemotivation,thefireofhisyouth,andhowinhislaterlife,ithas
    beenputout.Also,hementionstheyellowleavesofautumn.Thiscanbeinterpretedas
    memories,waitingtoslipawaylikeleavesonatree.Orperhapstheyarethemotivationofhis
    youth,aswellasthefire.Theauthorisclearlyworriedabouthisage,andheisupsetthatheis
    losinghisfire.Whenhespeaksofdeathssecondself,heisreferringtothecoldofwinter,
    andtheendingofhisglowingfire.Intheend,theauthorislamentinginhisoldage.Heis
    greatlydisheartenedbyit,andhefeelsasifhislonglifeiscomingtoanend.Inallitsmorbidity,
    thepoemexplainswhyyouthissomethingtobecherishedandspentwisely.
