E book. Who Likes Rain? by Etta Kaner & Marie Lafrance. Published by Kids Can Press.

This is an e-book on rain. It caters for each level as the guided voice can be turned off or on.
High comprehension level students: The teacher will tell groups that have a higher level to leave the
voice guidance off.
Low comprehension level students: Students who are struggling with reading can leave the voice on
but encouraged to speak along with the book.
Expected comprehension level students: Children at this level can go through the book being read to
them and have a go at reading it themselves.
There will be laminated print screens of the book on the table mixed up, after reading the book the
children have to put them in order of occurrence. The children have to then take a photo of their
end product.

Clicks and clunks

The children in the group will be given the book that was read earlier in class about rain, Flood by
Jackie French. The clicks are the words the children already know and have heard before, they will
be placed on a list under the heading clicks. The clunks are words that children have not heard
before and will be listed under the heading clunks.

Show me app

This app is an interactive whiteboard that can be used for recording drawings and voice. The teacher
will read out a detailed description of a storm. The children will then draw what they have listened
to. The paragraph will be different for each group depending on their strengths and improvement
areas. The voice of the teacher will be recorded as the children are drawing. This can be saved and
viewed later on for assessment purposes.

Act it out

The children are invited to act out a section of the book, Flood by Jackie French. The group will
divide in half while one half reads the book out loud, while the other children act it out.
High comprehension level students: The children with advanced literacy skills will be asked to act out
a future scenario that could happen after a certain point in the book.

Students are encouraged to record this activity on the iPads.

COMING TOGETHER AT THE END 10 minutes

As a class we will all come together at the end of the rotations and discuss what we have learnt
about rain and list it on our chart. We will also collate all our clicks and clunks and use the clunks
in another lesson for vocabulary development
