AWAY FROM THE PEC. TO CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE SPOOL, THE O/S GOVERNOR, THE SLPS, THE FEATHER
SOLENOID DRAIN FLOW FROM THE REFERENCE PRESSURE SIDE OF THE PROTECTION VALVE. MOVING, THE SPOOL
STOPS THE EHV FLOWS TO COARSE AND FINE PITCH SIDES OF THE ACTUATOR. THE SUPPLY PRESSURE GOES TO
THE COARSE PITCH CHAMBER AND THE BLADES MOVE TO COARSER PITCH (TOWARDS FEATHER)
THE FEATHER SOLENOID IS SUPPLIED FOR EMERGENCY FEATHERING.
THE SLPS. IN FLIGHT THE PROPELLER IS PREVENTED FROM GOING BELOW A SPECIFIED FINE PITCH. ON GROUND
THE PROPPELLER MUST BE PERMITTED TO OPERATE IN CERTAIN RANGE. THE SOLENOID CANCELS THE IN-FLIGHT
LOW PITCH STOP.
A PLA RVDT SUPPLIES THE PEC ABOUT THE PLA POSITION. THE CLA ONLY USES MICRO SWITCHES.

DUAL CHANNELS
DETECTS, ISOLATES, ACCOMODATES CONTROL SYSTEM FAULTS. IN CASE OF PRIM CHANNEL FAULT, THE PROP
SYSTEM IS AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHED TO THE BACKUP CHANNE
COMMUNICATES VIA ARINC BUS WITH EEC
RECORDS FAILURES AND MEMORY CAN BE READ VIA CODES
CONTROLS THE PROP RPM GOVERNING
RPM ARE SELECTED BY THE PIU / PWR MGT AND CONTROLLED BY COMPARING THE SENSED / SELECTED SPEEDS
CALCULATES A PITCH CHANGE DIRECTION AND RATE FOR CORRECTION
COMMANDS THE EHV TO GET THE CALCULATED PITCH CHANGE RATE. THE EHV CONTROLS THE OIL PRESSURES
TO CONTROL THE ACTUATOR AND THE BLADE ANGLE. THE RESULT IS TO CHANGE THE PROP RPM WHICH IS FED
BACK TO THE PEC TO CLOSE THE LOOP.
CONTROLS THE BETA ANGLE / REVERSE OPERATION
THE PLA RVDT INFORMS ABOUT THE ENGINE POWER AND THE PEC DETERMINES THE BETA ANGLE WHICH IS PRESET
VERSUS PLA AND AIR SPEED. THE PEC MAINTAINS THE SELECTED BETA ANGLE. THE BLADE ANGLE RVDT CLOSES
THE LOOP GIVING TO THE PEC THE BLADE ANGLE POSITION. PROP RPM IS MAINTAINED CONSTANT.
CONTROLS THE FEATHERING / UNFEATHERING
NORMAL FEATHERING VIA A DISCRETE INPUT SUPPLIED BY A CLA SWITCH AND REMOVING THIS INPUT UNFEATHERS
THE EHV, AT 20/SEC TOWARDS FEATHER. THE RVDT MONITORS THE BLADE ANGLE AND SENDS SIGNALS TO PEC
CONTROLS THE SYNCHROPHASING

FULLY AUTOMATIC EVEN DURING T/O RUNS. WHEN EACH PROP ARE RPM STABILIZED, THE SLAVE PROP RPM IS
LIMITED TO +/- 6 RPM. INIBITED WHEN EITHER PROP RPM GOES OUT OF PRESELECTED RPM BY +/- 6RPM.
O/S GOVERNOR
DURING O/SPEED CONDITIONS (105%) THE O/S GOVERNOR DECREASES THE OIL PRESSURE SUPPLIED TO THE PVM.
THE EHV DECREASES THE Pf. IN BETA MODE, THE O/S GOVERNOR IS RESET TO A LEVEL WHICH IS ABOVE THE
SELECTED RPM.
COULD BE TESTED
SLPS SECONDARY LOW PITCH STOP
FULLY CONTAINED IN THE PVM AND TOTALLY INDEPENDENT OF THE PEC
Pf IS METERED TO MAINTAIN PROP BLADE PITCH AT THE LOW PITCH STOP SETTING. THE OVERSPEED GOVERNOR
PRESSURE IS SLIGHTLY DRAINED
ON GROUND THE O/S GOVERNOR IS DRAINED TO PERMIT THE BLADE ANGLE TO GO TOWARDS REVERSE.
LOSS OF HYDRAULIC
THE BLADE COUNTERWEIGHTS GIVE PROTECTION FROM PROPELLER OVERSPEED OR EXCESSIVE DRAG.
THE BLADE WILL TURN TOWARD COARSE PITCH.
LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER
INTERMITTENT
MICRO CUTS OF 120 MILLISECONDS : THE PEC KEEPS THE CONTROL BUT THE BLADE PITCH WILL DECREASE 3/SEC
THE INCREASE OF RPM WILL BE LIMITED TO 12 RPM.
TOTAL
PERMITS CONTINUED SAFE OPERATION. THE EHV HAS A SMALL BIAS TO SUPPLY A SLOW REDUCTION IN BLADE
ANGLE. THE O/S GOVERNOR AND THE SLPS WILL CONTROL THE PROPELLER. BETA CONTROL AND REVERSE
WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.
